    Avon Storm 2 Ultra Mileage

I currently have 2200 miles on a rear Storm 2. It's wearing about the same as a RoadSmart = I expect 3500-4000 miles total. For comparison, I wasted a PR2 in 4200 miles, and a ContiMotion in 1900 miles. It's all in the wrist, baby.

    Barbarian Jumper Mod G2

The Barbarian Mod is an attempt to mimic the results of a Power Commander. Reports indicate that some FJR owners have had some success - I did not. After several attempts to get it right, I finally bought a PC3, which does help smooth out the throttle control & vibrations. It's still a...

How can a new guy protect the engine and fairing?

I strongly recommend "extended" delrin sliders - 4" long. The standard 3" sliders don't protect the left-side (stator) cover.

    Another "rough running" problem

SeaFoam +1. I didn't believe it until I tried it. My 08 had intermittent rough idle issues last year (45k miles at the time). Cleaning out the fuel system made it purr like a kitten again.

    Hyperpro progressive rate

The answers to both questions: probably. The rear Hyperpro is available in standard height, and +1". So, you'll want to ask which the PO installed, or measure. The front springs have a considerably higher rate (stiffer) than the FJR's stock springs. So, the rider sag will be lower, meaning...

    EOM 2011 after action thread

Comment: EOM 11 was great Fun - nearly everyone went out of their way to be friendly and generous. A personal thank you to everyone who helped with my (cough, uh) 'electrical problem'. Suggestion: I think it'd be cool to have a BBQ arranged next year. I don't know what it would cost, or if...

    home safe and sound

Smurfett and I made it back a few hours ago. We explored some new roads in Middle TN on the way. Sore and satisfied!

    Tall rider on FJR

I have a '34 inseam also. For me, lowered footpegs weren't an option until I upgraded to an Ohlins shock, and raised the bike an inch via dogbones. Even with the extra inch of height, I grind the lowered pegs a lot - will remove them for EOM.

    EOM '11

Nobody I went to HS with rides an FJR. A few ride Harleys, and they think I'm nuts. I'd much rather hang out with other FJR nuts, than anyone in my HS class!

    Challenge the Dragon

Oh, now THAT's a challenge worthy of new suspension....and a topographic map.

    Challenge the Dragon

Yes, you can make it to the Dragon in a couple hours from Cumberland Falls, KY. They're great - since you're coming down from Canada, don't go north until you've ridden it, Rt. 28, and the Cherohala Skyway. That being said, there will be plenty of great routes organized for EOM with far less...

    EOM '11

A group of us stayed there in late September, and did some scouting. It's gorgeous, and the roads are great. Rest assured, we will see some Jeff Ashe goat trails on the route options.

    Install Power Commander V

Have you noticed a difference in the 3 vs. 5 ?

    Ohlins/Cogent Dynamics Suspension Upgrades

The YA-036 rear shock does not include remote adjustable preload...you have to adjust with a wrench. If you do a fair amount of 2-up riding, you'll want the YA-707

    Ohlins/Cogent Dynamics Suspension Upgrades

Jeff, Does this special offer include a "keeps up with HaulinAshe in Appalachian Mountain twisties" guarantee? Aside from Ashe, I've heard 3 separate (very experienced) FJR riders' reports on this setup; all 3 were in awe, post-ride. Apparently, this is the Pinnacle of ST suspension technology.

    Thumbs down on BT021 rear?

I've run (4) Bt-021 rears, as well as RoadSmarts and PR2s in the past. I tend to ride hard, averaging 4k per rear tire. RoadSmart: Stickier, better wet-traction, worse life (3 - 3.5k) Bt-021: Less grip, especially when cold, worse wet traction, better life (4.5k usually) PR2: Far worse...

How do you fix Rear Suspension "bounce" ?

No one's asked so I will: How many miles on that Penske? They do require a rebuild from time to time.

    Insane Roads

I just cried. Maybe that should be my "Bucket List." Looks like the FJR could handle about 18 of those roads; the other two are probably beyond even Dual-Sports.

    Bridgestone Battlax BT-023

Almost. The '10 Connie comes with an updated Bt-021-U. They're supposed to be heavy-ST tires, with longer life. If that's true, I'll bet the 023 is a re-badged version of this new tire.

    Kentucky members

5 year resident with a home and career. Yeah, some of the roads are good, but it seems the weather sucks too often. When it doesn't, my allergies suck. I should probably just count my blessing, not problems. Probably just a case of winter depression, compounded by a lack of riding.
