    Oil Leak

Might not be oil at all........brake fluid perhaps. Bike that old with such limited use, is bound to have a dried out seal or two. If it is oil, there is a small seal that goes around the shaft (that goes through the case to the clutch plates) OIL SEAL,SDO-TYPE 93109-08061-00. If it's brake...

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

Finally received the parts (shims and CCT). However, lesson to be learned.....always remember where you left your engine parts before you grab a sheet you used to wrap them in from the work bench.......lets just say I'm glad I caught the cam before it hit the floor....what a nightmare!

Valve Checks vs. Adjustment Required Poll

Thanks for the advice guys! That was my thought anyways, and I did spin the motor probably 5-6 times to verify my measurements......on two separate occasions. Now I'm just waiting for my order to show up so I can start re-assembling......now I just need to start looking for a used GENII rear...

Valve Checks vs. Adjustment Required Poll

Crap, you guys are making me doubt myself here!! I just went through a shim check and all but 3 were over (on the tight side) the 3 in question were right on the upper limit. I always thought you re-shim to the "loose side" as valves will wear in the seat and thus will result in a tighter limit...

UpperCan400 Moto Rally - and NOT the CFR (for me)

Huron52 and Karstemp......No problems guys and no pressure. I know how tough it can be to schedule riding let alone day to day stuff! It will run yearly but I hope you can try and make it. A few guys on this forum ran it last year and had a great time. Karstemp, I still think you should throw...

UpperCan400 Moto Rally - and NOT the CFR (for me)

It's kinda why I chose that day, that and it's right before fathers day...........if folks were on the way up type thing. That was my thinking anyways............but between my work schedule and that of those who can help out that was the best I could do. I know it wont work for everyone though.

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

Great price, but that's a bunch of wasted shims IMO. I needed 5 of one size, and the eBay kit only has 3 of each. With re-using what I had I only needed to buy 9 shims. But I guess you could share them....:-)

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

Ha ha that's a good one............I have done this before so I am not worried. As for making a re-assembly video, good idea. I will probably just post a few photos though........it's to cold to stay in the garage for more than an hour at a time :-)

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

Thanks for the link Ray. I just picked up a digital caliper from Crappy Tire(it was on sale). I just measured all of the shims and it is dead accurate. It said it had an accuracy within 0.02mm but like I said. It matches every number on the shims. It allowed me to measure the ones where I...

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

I'm on my way out to buy one now (a micrometer).......3 of the exhaust shim number are illegible. and the others the numbers are so worn they were a little difficult to read.

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

Once I calculate what I actually need (as I might be able to re-use a few) I'll think about sanding......As it stands they are ALL out (tight) and/or at the limit, so I might as well bring those into the "loose" side of things.

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

Sanding $5 valve shims???? You guys have way too much time your hands :-) Next thing you know you'll be trying to get me to put a car tire on the thing??? haha I'll be pulling the cams today.......and I think I will pass on "sanding"
