    Hawaii is CHEAP right now!

A buddy and I are trying to plan a week of riding in Germany. It will be more to rent the bikes than the airfare. Crazy times. I got a one way flight from Peoria, IL. to Orlando, FL. for $29. My Dad was there already (he's retired and goes for a few months) to pick me up at the airport and drive...

REVISED POLL - How old are you

To you younger guys: Insurance blows! They stiick it to you just 'cause your young. Same you, different bike- rates go up. The FJR is not up on the hit list like the 'Busa, R-1, etc. Be grateful for that. Plus you can ride it for more than an hour without visiting the chiropractor. And usually...

Neighbor's barking dog driving us nuts

There are multiple police agencies in any area. City, county, state, park district, etc. They don't always talk to each other or get along. If the other ideas about contacting other branches of the govt. don't work, try a different police agency. Also talk to the teenagers, brandishing a gun is...

    Sounds pretty quick!

If they end up like the B King, they'll be affordable next week.

    steering stem sockets

From one Roy to another, nice tool. That would make setting the torque a lot easier. I'll see you at SFO.

26.6K Valve Adjustment! Dealer says it's a waist of money!

I was having no problems or noises, but just to be safe I pulled mine apart and checked the valves last winter. 30,000 miles, all within the manual's spec. If nothing else, I'm much more familiar with what is under all that palstic. While you're at it, good time to change coolant etc.

    grease your splines

After reading some posts on splines, I greased mine. But decided to try the (wow, is that stuff expensive) Krytox grease. At about $55 for a two ounce tube, I hoped for my milage to double and all farkles be self installing. Haven't noticed any difference, but I will pull it apart...

    CFO Rally Rally

Thanks for the great explanation. I will have my 76 yr. old Dad with me at the CFO rally, so doing the whole 8 might not be possible, but it sounds like fun. Kind of like a long poker run. As most know, it's not the destination, but the journey. It's just handy to actually have a destination.

So who has actually used a non OE filter

The filter for my Honda Accord (and most other Honda cars) fits the FJR, never had any problems (37k miles and counting). They can be bought in a ten pack for a reasonable price and most importantly, are almost galaxy blue. They have the Honda H on them, so it's a good conversation starter with...

    Have just got to vent

Most tickets have little to do with right and wrong. They have to do with the issuing departments budget. It's a form of tax lotto. Some cops are born ********, but many are doing what their boss tells them they have to, even if they don't agree with it.

    Forgive my ignorance

I thought it was Fine Japanese Rice. I like my rice burner :yahoo:

    Hows the Heat

If you have a digital thermostat at home, switch it Celsius. Confuses the hell out of everybody, but you'll know what temperature you like. I rode a Canadian model Katana for years, the speedo was only in KMH. I can multiply by .6 real well now.

    Wheel bearing replacement interval

I just checked my rear wheel bearings when I had the wheel off to service my shaft drive (trying the Krytox grease). At 36,000 miles the grease in there looks like new, as do the bearings. Always a shock to me since I seem to always be doing the bearings on my dirt bike. Don't know if it's...

Who needs reindeer? Now it only takes half a night to deliver all the presents. Just more magic dust to get up the nerve.....
