    Just Curious

There are several people on this forum who have done (so far successfully) what you're proposing. It's certainly not impossible, but still the best advice is still to buy a relatively small beater bike. Drop it a few times during low speed maneuvers. Goose the throttle in the middle of a turn...

    Decisions Decisions

While I wouldn't recommend the FJR as a first bike, I'm glad you're adapting well. +1 on getting some serious miles before carrying your wife. After you achieve proficiency and become confident in your skills, you may become over-confident. I find that crashing every few years helps keep me...

    Oregon to California

Sounds like you did I-5. Congratulations on your survival. How many hours were above 110 (degrees and mph combined)?

    Larger Windshields

I've got Cee Bailey's +4/+3 and am happy with it. I'm only 5'11", but I suspect you'd do fine riding with the shield a couple of inches higher than I do. People have also been happy with Rifle and CalSci. I'm interested in the V-Stream 'cause I hear it's quieter.

Muzzy not so bad after all

I like your lack of trust in your fellow man. So are we going to see the scraper version at WFO? Doesn't sound like you'll have the new one in time.

Muzzy not so bad after all

Glad they did right by ya. Might have to change the title.

    pronomian

I shift as low as 3,500 RPM when cruising around in relaxed mode on flat ground. If you're going to crank it wide open, try to shift by redline (it comes up awful quick in the lower gears). The rev limiter wil put a damper on your fun on the high side of 10 K.

I-80 Salt Lake City to Reno Road Report

Suggested alternate route: take I-80 about 30 miles to Fernley and catch the road to Fallon (you'll merge onto Highway 50 before Fallon). Take 50 to Utah and pick up I-70 east. That'll get you to KC. There's traffic in Denver but not anywhere else until you get to KC.

    Windshield movement-normal?

Same with my '05. Sometimes I notice a little movement from wind gusts at freeway speed.

    Perforated Leather?

Yeah, I've got the mesh jacket and Kevlar jeans for when it's hot and solid leather for when it's cool to cold. I was hoping somebody would say the perf was good from 65 to 95 so I could justify getting it but it sounds like the perf isn't that much cooler than the solid. There's talk of a...

    Perforated Leather?

So I've been thinking about getting some perforated leather. How hot does it have to be to make you trade in the leather for mesh and a sahara vest? I'd like to get the protection of leather, but if the perorated leather's not much cooler than solid leather (which I've already got) it's...

Ordered my first; found my second on the showroom floor. Glad ya found one too. Stupid PDP. See ya around.

    DOH!!

So it's straight enough to use as a straightedge, Rich? And you use it as a level, too? Can you measure the angle? Back on topic, the only times I've dragged the bags were with the lid open or in the process of crashing. I've dragged pegs, foot guards, brake pedal (rotated forward a couple...

    Muzzy Exhaust system

Thanks for the heat info, Rad. Stu, do you think it's a installation issue or a lean angle issue? Have you ground off some of your peg feelers? Do you ignore your feelers and lean till you're grinding hard parts like meosborn?

    Muzzy Exhaust system

Has anybody noticed whether the Muzzys affect the heat thrown off by Feej? My AC doesn't seem to be working too well right now and any heat loss would be appreciated.

    HAND VISOR

They're ugly now, but they might look pretty good in winter.

    Possible new owner

Bad Groo! Bad! Stop tormenting the newbie! Personally, I like the '04 color best. Sliders and a radiator guard are good protection. Hand guards and foot guards are good if you'll be riding in inclement weather. Maybe a front fender extender or a tail trunk. There are a lot of aftermarket...

    Open Passes Ride

We thought aboout staying Saturday night up high and riding home early in the morning, but with the forecast for Arnold at 101 it'd have to be someplace really high. This is our anniversary weekend and I'm trying not to piss her off. Gotta do that once a year, ya know.
