    test rode the BMW K1200R

I think I've done enough mods with my FJR. Thought about the G2 but don't want to go through the hassle of the install. But maybe I'll revisit.

    test rode the BMW K1200R

Test rode a BMW R1200R and K1200R this past weekend. I know after this that I'm not interested in the R1200R. But the K1200R is a really nice bike. Once thing that really stuck me was how SMOOTH the throttle was - no on/off "jerk" like on the FJR. I'm really disappointed now with my AE's...

considering the R1200R as a replacement

"Naturally"? Do you know if that was also an issue with the R1200R? Thanks for the info.

considering the R1200R as a replacement

That's one of the few good things about living in Los Angeles, I have three dealerships within 50 miles.

considering the R1200R as a replacement

What do you like about it? How does it "compare" to the FJR?

considering the R1200R as a replacement

Saw the F800ST. That's also a really nice bike. If only just me riding (and no two-up riding), that one would be on my list.

considering the R1200R as a replacement

Thanks again everyone. Great info. I did sit on the bike yesterday. With their low seat, it almost fits me perfectly. More so than the FJR - which isn't bad. I'm going to try to get to the dealership with my better half for her to see it and sit on the pillion seat. Hell, she's pretty much...

Thanks for the heads-up on the rental location. :D

considering the R1200R as a replacement

How was the demo ride? I've read there is some buzz or vibration at freeway speeds (around 70mph). Did you notice anything like this? Thanks.

considering the R1200R as a replacement

Yeah, I'm aware of the "naked" look of the bike. That's what I like about it. I'm going tomorrow to see one. A local dealership has a black one. Good thing my FJR is in for service, no temptation to pull the trigger. ;) BTW, using regular gas in your FJR? I always use premium.

considering the R1200R as a replacement

I’ve been doing some soul searching lately. I would like to start off by saying, in general, I have no major complaints about my 2006 FJR1300AE. Just took her in for 16,000 mile service. However, one thing for me is just the general size of the bike. I’m about 5’7” and 155lbs, so pushing...

    08 Ninja ZX10R

Congrats on the ZX10. I'm looking at this bike as a second "solo" bike for me. It's interesting you mentioned the lack of low end grunt. The articles on the web say that it was improved from the 06-07 models. It must have been really poor on the those bikes...

    Pilot's License: Granted!

Congrats on the AE purchase. I'm almost at 16,000 miles on mine in the lovely L.A. traffic. :o

Power Commander FIXES '06 throttle response!

I wonder what it really does (O2 sensor). I say this because I had to take my AE in for another SH__48 code. Bike just stopped moving on me. The first time it happened I did not have the PCIII, second time I did. The dealership said they disconnected the PCIII to see if they could duplicate...

    PCIII Mileage Map Gen II

I should say I'm using the Wally/Holeshot combo map with my FJR.

    PCIII Mileage Map Gen II

Interesting, before my PCIII I would get around 45-47mpg with a 70-75mph cruising speed (which is right about 4k rpm). After my PCIII, I get around 42-44mpg. I do have the Remus exhaust on my 06AE now but I guess 42ish seems to be decent when cruising at 4,000 rpm. I will say that with my...
