    Grease Fork Seals?

Not sure if seals were OEM since they were installed by GP Suspension. My local mechanics also mention OEM seals are the way to go and that's what I'm replacing with. Considering the hassle and cost of pulling forks, I've been meticulous about keeping fork tubes clean, at least when bike gets...

    Grease Fork Seals?

I attempted the Seal Mate trick on the FJR at 15k and on the Tenere without success. Since both seals were leaking I didn't even attempt it this time. Talking with the mechanics at my local dealership, they mentioned seeing seals fail, typically around 12k to 20k miles but noting a few...

    Grease Fork Seals?

I'll add that my '07 currently has 30k miles. The first set went out around 15k miles and I used the opportunity to send both forks to GP Suspension for seals and valve upgrade. It does appear there was some type of grease between the seal lips this time, but seeing they again failed at 15k...

    Grease Fork Seals?

Won the lottery and discovered both fork seals sprung a leak this spring. Have forks apart and about to reassemble but I see mixed responses (not here) about whether to use an assembly lube/grease on front seals or just coat with fork oil. Thoughts?

$57? Should have bought it! Must have been a LTO, I'm seeing $89 for LIT-11616-29-61 before shipping.

FJR Dyno Tuning & Electroninc Control Unit Flashing

The ECUs on the Gen1 & 2 are not flashable and must use add-on controller, at least based on posts I've seen on the forum. I've not kept up with the Gen3 to know if they are flashable.

    This is another tire thread

Yep, no matter what tire was on the bike previously, the new tire warms up quicker and provides much better traction.

Do I Really Need Motorcycle Boots?

Exactly! And the ol' "two is one" quip doesn't apply here.

Do I Really Need Motorcycle Boots?

What Fred said, emphasis on "true". Ankles are complex joints (so I've heard) and you want to protect them. Agree, most low priced "motorcycle" boots are nothing but gussied up high-top shoes in black and marked up another 100%. Find a store that has a good range of boots that you can...

Throttlemeister, Black, Left needs TLC, $25

These are the regular or non-heavy Throttlemeister. Left side needs a little TLC, or if you just need right side.

Setup fee charges on a used FJR

Of course, if it was traded at the dealership, they likely used "reconditioning costs" to further discount the seller's trade-in price. But I understand a business need to make a profit which is in addition to real costs to running the store. That they use a flimsy explanation is kinda slimy...

Doesn't the CEL lighting up indicate a code has been triggered and stored?

    No spark

Cylinder identification sensor? The manual says engine will not start if this sensor has failed.

    Low down dirty 'stich

Ha! I've been using Tent & Gear Solarproof for a few years with the intent of getting some UV protection in addition to waterproofing. Seems to work so far.

    No spark

Ok, but is there voltage at the coil? If there is,next test is ECU.

    No spark

No spark is key! I've had the fast starter problem before and diagnostic mode would still fire the plugs. ECU could be a problem but there have been many more issues with wiring and switches. I would work the circuits between coil and battery first. I don't have a Gen1, but there are several...
