I'm at work so I can't thumb through threads for hours on end right now, so I'm asking a question to help steer me in the right direction. This morning I started the bike (07 AE) and it fired right up in less than a second like it usually does. Then from that it went down to 400-500 RPMs for the cold idle and the yellow CEL was on. Turned the bike off, let it sit for a minute and fired it back up. It went right up to 1400-1500 RPMs for cold idle for about a minute then dropped back down to 500 RPMs. I gave it some throttle and it sounded ok, as soon as I stopped, it died. As already running behind for work I haven't done anything to it yet. I will be able to look at this again after I get home from work, so if I don't respond.........that's why.

Perhaps you should go back and read the various things we strongly suggested when you first signed up including the New Owners Read This section. Might be #2 on that list. ;)

Doesn't sound like anything common to me. If it is a new behavior, something isn't right.

Not a simple idle adjustment issue...

Ok, got home and started up the bike. It fired right up with no problems. Pulled the tank so I can check the plugs and all 4 are a little dirty, but nothing out of the ordinary. Back together and started it up with my carb sync tool to check and all are even with each other. Bike revs and idles fine and the RPMs are around 1000 at idle. Also, yellow light is off.

Doesn't the CEL lighting up indicate a code has been triggered and stored?</p></blockquote>

That's what I thought too. Does the light stay on to say there was a code like in a car? I took 3rd to 8k and 4th to 7k on a straight stretch of road to see if that helped at all. It runs fine and idles fine. I really don't know what happened, I can't get it to do it again...

It's a long shot and not likely going to have the answer!

My '06 is doing this.

Happened shortly after a "pair removal"

Not sure if that had anything to do with the low idle.

Goes away after bike temp reaches 3 bars or higher.

I did my pair removal 9 months ago. Ran completely fine until that morning, then has ran fine ever since. I have done nothing to it to fix it. But if I took the bike to work that day I would have been completely screwed when I left work early for a family situation.
