Yes you do have a problem and it is most likely the following problem. When you put your bottom bearing onthe shaft and was driving it to seat at the bottom of the shaft it did not go all the way down. You most likely have about an 1/8" gap. You will not be able to see this gap with your naked...

I believe your Idea with using the sticky two sided tape is a failure before you start. There are better ways than that, I know if gives a clean look but.... Not tryning to rain on your parade want to see a good product out there with out failures and problems , like one comming off at 80mps...
