shucks...

the timing doesn't work well for me...

i am about to bring my bike in for it's 52k miles valve + service and i don't know if i can get it in and out of the shop in time for launch.

everyone be on your toes and be safe.

dave mig.

Sorry, Dave. You're going to miss a great ride and time with the gang.

BTW, there will probably be some who show up who have not notified anyone or posted here. I know therea re a few from OR who are considering the trip. It's probably too far for Barb.

We probably won't know the head count until we get to Yreka.

No word from the Highlanders.......exskibum & Judy...........
Just got back from SoCal after a couple weeks. My Dad died Sept. 25 and the service was Oct. 2.

As much as I'd like to make this ride (one of my favorites, as you know), I have yet to even put together a list of all the **** I need to deal with between now and then. And Judy starts 8 months of retraining for a new vocation tomorrow.

Lessee -- I probably "need" a Gerbings heated jacket for each of us now that I have the powerlets for them. Definitely need new Starcom compatible headsets for both helmets (like the Starcom system very much, the vendor I bought from is the very best (bike effects), but the Starcom headsets are worse than fresh cat **** in terms of durability and reliable function). Need to look at the rubber, change oil and filter, misc. maintenance from riding back and forth to SoCal so much this summer, Hmmm -- that doesn't look so bad.

Oh yeah -- forgot I need to get mucho maintenance done on my car in order to drive it, and it got hit in a parking lot, so there's that. Most of all, I guess I need to have some source of income now that this f'ed up summer has all but completely wiped out my business. The ride would be a nice bit of psychotherapy though. I'm not "out" yet, but count me as "doubtful".

And please -- I know you all have sympathy for the loss of my Dad, but there's no need to express it here and hijack the thread. Just know I appreciate it. Thanks to all in advance.

Lucky bastages.... Greg97224 and I did this on 9/17-18. We rode from Fortuna east on 36 to Red Bluff and then up to Redding and west on 299 to Willow Creek, and then north on 96 to Happy Camp and Yreka. What a great ******* day! Then south on 3 (with the Fork of Salmon loop), thru Weaverville and Hayfork back to 36 and then west to the coast again. I was a virgin on these roads and just about peed myself with pleasure. Damn, it was so fun. I cannot wait to do them again. We discovered a little add on route for everyone to try. Looks like you will be northbound on 3, so when you get to Callahan, go west on a superb newly rebuilt road to Cecilleville, then north on a very scary, mostly 1 lane road hanging over long drop offs to the river to Forks of Salmon, then go East, hitting Hwy 3 at Etna. This approx 90 mile loop is very, very interesting and a treat with plenty of puckers and plenty of smiles.

Have fun, amigos!

Good call, thanks...and very tempting! Is it new pavement all the way through or at least similar to Leggett Road down to PCH?

Callahan to Cecilleville is the new pavement, the rest of the route is old, but decent except where it has eroded off the edge, sometimes bringing the trail down to 1 lane. This is a very fun ride!!!

Some of it looks like it came from Deliverance, but maybe Bust or ODOT could verify those scenes.

I might just see you fine folks in Yreka. Will be coming from Vanc. Wa. Did similar ride last fall, clicky and would like to end the year with these roads.

If the weather gurus can be believed at weather.com, the long range forecasts look to be favorable, but I'm going to bring my electrics!https://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USCA...pnav_undeclared

Yes....but be prepared for "interesting" and possibly damp weather Friday night:

Riding through Weaverville should be nice:
