What did you do to your FJR today?

Let's see: 1. changed the oil and filter. 2. bought a 19 mm hex socket to facilitate removal of front axle. 3. finally assemble the tire changer with motorcycle wheel adapter that I bought 6 years ago. Somewhere along the road I lost the instructions,so when I put it together I had a piece...

    2013 Yamaha Street Motorcycle Overview

Well, they could start making the Gen 1 again, call it a Gen 3, and tell us all about the heroic effort they put into shaving the 20 -30 lbs off the Gen 2.

Should I stay or should I go?

Heck, go for it. Nothing like a change in style of bike to peak your interest in the sport again. I've only heard good things about Victory bikes. Which model are you looking at? I made the move in the opposite direction, I came from a Harley Road King to the FJR. Both ,I believe, are fine...

Tires - What am I doing right?

It's riding style. I live in Michigan where to land is flat and the roads are straight and I've got 10,000 mile on my oem's. I'll change them this year only cuz I've got some cupping on the front and am starting to get some dry rot cracking goin on.

    FJR Tech Day V

Yea, I might stop by, haven't checked the air pressure in my tires yet this year, might a good time to do it. <_< I do plan to put new tires on my bike this year, but I prefer to do this in the privacy of my own garage with a good supply of beer. I've always equated changing tires to...

    My FJR is Haunted

My FJR is a male. It doesn't talk, just passes a lot of gas. :P

    How old were you?

I started under age on my brothers 1964 Yamaha 80 (hence my screen name 64y80) which I bought off him as soon as I got my license, or was it before I got my license, crap I forget. <_<

    AE Satisfaction?

Yamaha did a really piss poor job documenting how the AE system works. Let me first say that I really really like my AE. It only took a quick trip around the dealership parking lot to feel comfortable enough with it to ride home. However, I am now in my third summer with this bike and I'm...

FJR brakes -- using the foot brake

The front is still my main stopper. To me it is the easiest to modulate (has the most feel) to control the rate of deceleration.

    Vauge feeling

Yep, it's me. Spendin more time of the toro than the yamaha. Typical mid west spring, stupid grass won't quit growin. I'm ready to call Selfridge to schedule an application of agent orange. <_<

    Vauge feeling

4 clicks on that thing on the top - try 3 clicks, if things start draggin go back to 4. 57 turns on the screw on the fork leg.. - if you weigh over 100 lbs, go to 58. I'm using a PR 4.5 with 28 psi. - good choice, I run at 28.5 psi. Plus I have 22 quarts of Royal pink in me arse - standard or...

    2013 FJR

Yea, saw that in Motorcyclist. They describe the current AE as an imperfect semi-automatic trans that shifts into neutral whenever revs drop below 2000 rpm. :dribble: Based on the lack of understanding of the current model, I'm not putting a whole lot of stock in their prognosticating...

Dealership Gorilla Overtightened Gas Tank Bolts

Fred is right, the manual does not call for anti-sieze here, but, I've buggered enough threads in my life that anytime I have a bolt into aluminum, anti-sieze is used. In the case of bolt into steel or iron I always put a light coat of grease on the threads. As a warning, when doing the...

    Break in oil change

I agree, keep the largest bearing surface against the softest material.

    It's Wednesday? :dribble:

What did you do to your FJR today?

Took it out for a nice ride and stopped at the local comedy club/harley dealer. A yound salesman was explaining to me what a fast bike the sportster was. Don't get me wrong, I think the sporty is a neat bike and wouldn't mind owning one for kicking around town, but of all it's...

    Getting Old is a *****

Yuppers, did it last week. Wheel bike out of garage, wouldn't turn over, roll bike back in garage, take car to work, come home, pull various body panels, check battery voltage, look for blown fuses, see stupid red switch, flip it, start bike, put all back together again. Tell the wife I...

    Waving at other motorcyclists

Now that I'm retired I drive a school bus to get me out of the house during the winter. Turns out school bus drivers wave to each other too. I can't count how many times I've waved to a biker while driving the school bus or waved to a school bus driver while riding the bike.
