How is the FJR around town?

No regret on the AE at all. Takes about half a block to learn it, a little longer to use it smoothly.

Is a radar detector really worth it?

I believe the radar detector does help prevent tickets. In my area they will put up one of those, ah..., bill boards that have radar and tell you the speed your driving as you approach it. I've seen how much trouble it has acquiring my bike as I approach, it will jump all over on readout until...

How is the FJR around town?

I use mine for grocery shopping/errand running, back and forth to work, and an occasional long trip. I find it to be a very good swiss army knife type bike that leans toward touring.

    UK North with Ideal Weather

Awesome scenery plus long and rich history, I'm more than a little envious. Thanks for the pictures and report.

    Exterior House Painting

FWIW, I'm no expert, but I use a wagoner power sprayer, it's a whole lot faster and seems to do a good job. I've got T-111 siding and the power sprayer makes it easy to get into all the grooves. Prep takes more time than the actual painting.

    FJRF009.2: "Intermittent Ground Wire Connection"

Thanks for the offer, I know it's an easy job, did it so many times on my GS1000 I could almost do it in my sleep. That's what got me about the dealers price quote, $500 to turn 3 screws and put in 4 plugs, what a deal.

    FJRF009.2: "Intermittent Ground Wire Connection"

Don't tempt me, I'm really itchin to get out west for a ride.

    FJRF009.2: "Intermittent Ground Wire Connection"

Stopped by my dealer today with the recall notice. I was impressed that they had a computer printout sitting at the ready with the names of all the people that had purchased a FJR from them. They highlighted my name, verified my phone number, and said they would call me when the parts were in...

    Oil Filter gasket leak?

I never had it happen on my FJR but I did have it happen on my truck last year. I believe it was a Mobil 1 oil filter, it leaked slightly past the gasket. I don't know what the exact problem was but when I put on a new filter all was good.

Peter Behm Wins Iron Butt Rally!

Congratulations to Peter and everyone who rode this rally. I can't believe the miles you all rode. I used to be proud of doing 1500 miles in 3 days....um....I'll just take a piece of humble pie and go quietly to my room, you people are truly in a league of your own.

    Excuuuse Me!

After I retired I became a school bus driver, turns out that school bus drivers wave to each other. So when I'm on the bike I wave to other bikers, when in the bus wave to other bus drivers. then I started having senior moments, I'd be driving the bus and would wave at a biker, or on the bike...

    Going to the Dark Side

Oh what the heck, allow me to add my uneducated opinion to this. I am not a darksider, never will be, I don't ride enough to entertain the idea, but I don't think it's a necessarily bad idea. The reasons people are trying it make perfect sense to me, increased mileage, reduced cost, etc. The...

Which is scarier, GenI or GenII unique issues?

I voted Gen 1 because I own a Gen 2. If the truth be known neither is all that scary. Go to any vehicle forum, motorcycle, car, or truck, and you'll find that the forum membership has found some serious design flaw with said vehicle that if not fixed immediately, a very important part of your...

Any New 2009 Holdovers Out There?

Sorry, no help here. Just yesterday I visited the local Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki/Yamaha dealer to kick a few tires and see what looked interesting. I was very disappointed, of the 50 or so units on the floor, fully half were cruisers, the rest were ricky racer sport bikes and quads, no touring...

    FJR Tech Day II

I haven't chimed in here yet since I live locally and can simply drop by unannounced, be a nuisance for a couple of hours then go home. Saturdays weather forcast is looking pretty good sooo.... that might be just what I do. As far as work needed done on my bike, I should check my tire...

    The ST is Dead

The ST, like any dual purpose bike will be ok in a couple of areas, but will not excel in either. I see the adv bikes the same way. They are a off road/touring cross. They make similar compromises, just in different segments. In all honesty I do not see one displacing the other.

    The ST is Dead

Well, rats. I just buy my first ST and really like the package. Now the whole genre is dead? :glare: Rats. Okay where did I put my brochure on the new Harley Ultra?

Proof that GenII is faster than GenI

Probably on purpose, did I ever tell you the time my parents moved while I was in school and didn't tell me. ;)
