    Front End Rebuild

When I went to GPSuspension, they pulled a box of springs sized to my weight, compared them, and picked a matched set (using some form of magic - I was mostly getting toured around the shop, so all I saw was the initial measuring). I also watched them box up a couple of springs to send back to...

    new penske rear shock

Killed 3 OEM shocks before I went Penske on my '05. First died at about 6K (warranty), second at about 30K, 3rd at about 53K. In riding gear, I weigh a bit over 250#. From what I've read, if you weigh more than about 225, expect 20 - 25K out of the OEM shock.

    1000 miles?

If you're on 152 anyway, at the east end of Hollister, you need to bomb down Hwy 25 to either King City (if you need fuel) or 198. Either will drop you back on the 101 Serves two functions - first, Hwy 25 is probably one of the top 25 roads in Cali to ride, and second - the CHP are incredibly...

Riding this weekend? (04/17 or 04/18)

Ah, been on Dog Bar starting near Cozzins corners, but never from that far south, so I didn't recognize it - wasn't sure why you were gesturing. There was a sweet series of corners on that road I used to fine-tune the new suspenders a couple of years ago. Hm, another few weeks and the majority...

Just wait until the wallet pain starts after you ride with the Sack-o-tomatoes crowd and find out first-hand how much neat crap is available to customize the bike. Congrats - The Feej is a GREAT bike

Riding this weekend? (04/17 or 04/18)

Nice little putt, Sam. WAY too many LEOs and looky-loos to blow the carbon out, but still got in some nice sweepers and a couple stretches of technical stuff. Felt good to do something other than commute on the old girl. Next time we'll have to go play early enough so we're on the fun roads...

    Throttlemeister

Vista cruise is a cheap, simple, easy to install and use throttle lock. There are others - search 'throttle lock'. If not for your dislike of mechanical alterations, you could add true (electronic) cruise control - I think audiovox is the CC of choice?,

    Mayers or Russel

I'll be darned. For some reason, I thought Russells ran between $800 and $1,000. I do see Rick has raised his prices since I bought mine (coulda sworn I paid about $300 - vinyl, driver only)

    Mayers or Russel

Rick Mayer is up near Redding in Anderson, Bill Mayer is in Ojai, near Ventura/Santa Barbara. I've got over 60,000 miles on my Rick Mayer and am happy (I rode in) - only hinky stuff I've ever heard of with Rick is his record keeping can SUCK if you don't ride in. Couple people have had to...

Random FJR fact of the day

What I discovered on the Connie was, although a hammer will fit nicely in the sidebag, all it takes is one good bump for the claw side to remedy the lack of drainage a previously watertight bag suffered from. A case of shotgun shells fits easily too, but you gotta ride like there's a strong...

    2010 Motorcycle Safety Studies

So long as those miles aren't on the CBR1000RR you've been riding cheating with, which decreases your odds of surviving by more than 500% :fie: ... If you're gonna tell yourself statistics-based lies, you may as well at least read the statistics correctly (sorry Hans, had to *** knowing your...

My bike totally dies on interstate

Yep to the second part. I've had the negative terminal loosen up on me twice (last time was >3 years ago) and the bike has the exact symptoms described - buck and die, buck and die, die. Bike will not run w/o the battery hooked up.
