Took 45 years but they finally let me in - the Crash Club

and another chapter in this episode is finished. . . I picked up the feejer and paid for the repairs yesterday. Left a 'please call me, my patience is at an end' message for the guy at her insurance company who is handling this claim. He just called back - bottom line he is cutting a check for...

    Those damn scooters

This is particularly sad as it sounds so preventible. . . I just picked up my fjr today from the fjr hospital after my misadventure a couple of weeks ago. I am absolutely convinced the Arai saved my *** - err my head. According to my Dr I have a concussion (still have headaches) but don't even...

    Handle bars

ditto on my '08 I cleaned them up and sprayed a touch of krylon clear on them after I put them back - been fine since.

East Coast to West Coast Advise

Sorry Kiwi but I really don't have any specific ones that would help you. Most of my LD riding is in the northern part of the US & Canada I found the B&B in Thunder Bay where the owner let me put the bike in his garage - but it doesn't help you :( If you get to Connecticut (I'm 1-1/2 hours...

    Flying Junior Goes Flying

As having gone a similar route just recently, I'm glad to hear he is, for the most part, ok. From my personal experience I can attest to the soothing powers of percoset :) Hope he back in the saddle soon!

    Oil change

I use the allen wrench (that's used to remove the small screw in the fairing) wedged between the, now loose, fairing and the frame.

East Coast to West Coast Advise

Greetings Kiwi's I have found great places to stay at B&B's (bed & breakfast) in my travels cross country. There are several B&B guides and as I recall I think the AAA Tourguides even list some. If you really know what areas you want to stay in before you start it becomes a lot easier - the...

Want To See Installed Givi Trunk

Ion I have the E52 on the Premier plate. If I can get it out of the FJR hospital by next weekend I can beat feet & meet you halfway somewhere on Sunday. By then i'll be itching to get back on the bike & do some miles. Here is a side shot of the bike with it on

New member - oil change question

I can't even imagine how you could do it with a mighty vac - where would you stick the siphon hose? down the filler? Am I really missing something here?

    Sena SMH-10 Bluetooth Communicator

Thanks for the in depth review Jeff. I have been in the search mode for a Bluetooth helmet setup for several months now. I have no need for bike to bike communications. I would just like an integrated device that will take 3 inputs - RD, GPS and stereo mp3 - with a priority system. I could...

    What was your best de-farkle?

Great thead (as already noted) - I feel so inadequate, I haven't defarkled anything yet BUT after buying a couple of 'farkles to be' and really looking at them I decided against putting them on. The Kissan signal minder (felt a little queasy gutting the switch assembly with that spring), and...

Looking for Places To Stay - UT CO WY MT WA OR CA

A Major +1 here From my website https://www.molaver.org/may02mc.htm: We left Northwest Montana and took aim at our next big destination - Beartooth Pass on the Montana / Wyoming border. We weren't sure if the road was open yet but our plan was to enter Yellowstone from the west Yellowstone...

Looking for Places To Stay - UT CO WY MT WA OR CA

The last time I went to GNP I stayed here: https://www.cheapsleepmotel.com/ in Whitefish, MT - not far from Kalispel & Columbia Falls It was surprisingly inexpensive and VERY nice - the people were great

    Ignition key bends/breaks too easy

+1 When I picked up my '08 at D&H I received the same advice about the gas cap & side bags. ie push down slightly so the turning friction is reduced considerably. No problems so far

Tips on getting Spouse to feel safe on the FJR

My wife was the same - where its the ride for me, its the destination for her. When I rode an 1800 Wing it was not uncommon for her to fall asleep on the back, especially after a long day & on the way home. Compromise is the only answer if you want her engaged with your riding. Pick reasonable...

Took 45 years but they finally let me in - the Crash Club

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone  Here is the update. My daughter drove me to the police dept to pick up the accident report. She got a 'verbal warning' :dribble: The bottom line is it doesn't really matter whether she was arrested or not. She admitted to the cop that she...

Took 45 years but they finally let me in - the Crash Club

So there I am, happily scooting home from work yesterday knowing my new Arai helmet has been delivered and is waiting for me  I stop in traffic for a stop light (after checking my mirrors, no one behind me). I must have been sitting there anticipating my 1st new helmet in 15 years...

    Maine to D.C.

dupontrob2000, I live in central Connecticut & one of my sons lives in the DC area. I have made that ride (RT 95) many times. If you want a fast way to get there leave this area at 5 AM - back out your starting time so you hit the GW no later than 6:30. I can easily make it to DC in 5-1/2 hours...
