    GIVI Tanklock bag

Nothing fancy about the tank ring system; it will drain the battery if you leave something plugged in when stopped. My practice, though, is to always take the bag with me so I never have to worry about that. You could run it through a switch system if you prefer.

    Gone Without a Trace

Yes it has... A good outcome, but it still leaves some questions.

Appropriate to counsel other riders how to dress appropriately?

I dunno SC... I can imagine a few situations where "proper" gear helps maintain control. If I'm going to run into a large bee, a bird, or a stone thrown up by a semi, I'll be glad I'm wearing my full face helmet when it hits me!

    Gone Without a Trace

Out of respect for this guy who's either in trouble or dealing with some issues I'll bite my tongue about untrustworthy Harleys, but this is a strange story: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/francois-brodeur-s-mysterious-cape-breton-disappearance-investigated-1.2737310 I wonder if...

    GIVI Tanklock bag

Mine doesn't stay up off the tank at the rear at all, regardless of whether it's empty or full (maybe it would "hover" on other bikes; not on the FJR). That said, who cares? The bottom (back) part that touches is a soft rubberized material and it does no harm where it contacts the tank...

Learning to ride after a crash

TX: I think it’s normal and healthy to have a little apprehension about straddling anything that weighs 700 lb+ loaded, and puts out 150hp of fun. Ideally, that apprehension gets converted into “respect” for the bike and you ride within your own skill level and find the right balance between...

    2013 hard downshifting

I find all this hand-wringing about clunking into first quite funny. It's been a couple of decades, but if I recall correctly, when I first took riding lessons I was told that clunking was normal and nothing to be concerned about. I've only had 2 bikes (both Yamahas) and both will clunk into...

Learning to ride after a crash

I gotta say, BanjoBoy, in that pic your poor ol' '07 looks like something out of that '80s movie "Short Circuit." Or maybe "wall-E" (although I haven't seen that one).

How do you remove Gen3 Upper Dash Panel?

Specific proportional force? Not to worry - I’ve done it several times and never had any concern about breaking something. In fact I feel more confident doing the “twist” method than trying to pry the pieces apart (maybe prying is specific proportional force…?).

How do you remove Gen3 Upper Dash Panel?

Sorry... I think this will work: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/153079-battery-access-2013gen-iii/?do=findComment&comment=1075981

Rush hour, going 70 in the fast lane, bike dies, I don't...

If your kill switch has crapped out chances are the rest of the bike is close behind. Better play it safe and just get a 2014 ES (or wait a couple of months for a 2015). You don't want to take any chances when it comes to safety...

How do you remove Gen3 Upper Dash Panel?

For an easier way to remove the panel (assuming it is the one I think it is), see eg23232’s post (#2) here: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/153079-battery-access-2013gen-iii/ It works.

Rush hour, going 70 in the fast lane, bike dies, I don't...

I'll agree this thread demonstrates that you're a superb diagnostician (without equal on this forum, I'm sure), but I haven't seen anything about "repair" yet. Oh wait... you mean flipping that switch?

Can "tallish" people ride an FJR comfortably?

In addition to RossKean's perfectly sensible answer it occurs to me (not knowing how much room can be gained by this adjustment) that more space could be gained by removing the rubber shifter cover - that's bound to buy you around 1/4" and I don't think it would create any problems.

Rush hour, going 70 in the fast lane, bike dies, I don't...

I dunno... It does sound similar to my experience (linked on page 1 of this thread). You didn't get a new key cut recently by any chance did you?

Rush hour, going 70 in the fast lane, bike dies, I don't...

Well, since we seem to be having an intermission I'll provide this to help you pass the time: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/159134-ignition-switch-position/ I have no idea whether JB is going to tell us his episode had anything to do with the ignition but if it does I'm going...

Can "tallish" people ride an FJR comfortably?

Howie I'll have you know that this particular munchkin only replied because I was specifically invited to by the OP ("I'd like to hear from FJR owners that are over 6'..."). Now, if I can reach my coat on that hanger over there I'm going home!

Can "tallish" people ride an FJR comfortably?

I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam. I find the FJR quite comfortable and even more so with my new Russell Day Long seat (it seems to create a slightly more "open" knee angle). No bar risers or other modifications. I've done 8-hour days on the bike without discomfort (much of the credit for that goes...

    Ignition switch position

Not exactly the same thing, but something similar and a bit scarier: I was on a (unfortunately necessary) night-time run a few weeks ago on a major 4-lane highway. I had pulled out at a roadside rest stop for a stretch and a pee, then hopped back on to resume my trip. I turn up the lane to...
