    Oil Filter Purolator 14612

Here's a data point. I took two 90401-20007-00 unions I had laying around to a local aerospace machine shop in Placentia. I'm having them reduce the width of the 27mm x ~0.200" hex by removing 0.075" off the face of the hex on the short side of the union (oil filter side). "Turn off 75 thou...

FJRForum Official 2015 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis thread

This Iron Butt Rally has been spectacular to watch, congrats to all who participated. SO, if I understand correctly: 14 FJRs started the rally 15 FJRs finished the rally (thanks to Twigg's generosity) The only reported problems I read about was a ****** deteriorated o-ring on the oil filler...

FJRForum Official 2015 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis thread

eRepairables has an entire '07 up for auction tagged in Albuquerque, which means there's probably a motorcycle boneyard in near Albuquerque that is waiting for an offer to be made on the bike...

    Motorcycle vs Fire truck...

Glendora Ridge Road (GRR). One of my favorite roads; not far from where I live and breathtakingly beautiful. I'm up there about once a month. Motorcyclists crash and die on that road (and others nearby) frequently, mostly because they're treating it like their race track (kneedragging, unsafe...

    Ignition Coils

I don't know that you'd have to remove BOTH fairings, they're on the right side of the frame opposite of the battery. At least that's where they put 'em on my GEN II. Anyone put the coil overs from a GEN III into a I or II yet?

    FJR Mileage Milestones

Cracked 50,000 this morning on my way to go play up in the San Gabriel mountains via CA39. Kinda satisfied it didn't happen on the way to work.

Stripped cam cap bolt hole/ Not fun. Thoughts

Fred W's solution also has the added benefit of not precluding the possibility of a timesert / helicoil / machine shop repair in the future. That would be the route I'd go before swapping heads, with respect to hppants' generous offer.

How much is the top of the line Ohlins or other aftermarket cat's *** rear shock? $1500?

    90* valve stem issue

Hey has anyone mentioned that 90 degree rubber stems are a bad idea yet? If not, someone should bring that up.

    KrZy8 - Crap, radiator leaking

Dcarver doesn't strike me as the type to avoid a cheap halfassed but still works pretty well solution:

    started but woulbn't throttle up

Not sure there's a way to tell by the VIN, and I don't know where the model # can be found on the bike, however if you have two hoses sticking out at the bottom of where your front fairings come together, then you have a California bike. The second hose is from the charcoal canister that Cali...

    Is it a California bike?

Please help me identify this connector....

A foot above the exhaust header and radiator isn't necessarily the best place to put a thermistor, but I'm sure mama Yama saved a TON of money keeping it short and right next to the instrument cluster. If someone figures out which type of thermistor it is, they could potentially relocate it by...

Spokane Valley Sheriff has new FJR1300

I'm waiting for one of these to show up on auction after John Q. Law is done with it.

    2012 FJR won't shift

We should probably have a thread called "I am an *****" for all of the times that statement has been thrown around here. It could be populated as a thread repository much like NEPRT. It would be a quick reference guide for problems solved in short order after the owner has a brain fart...

    2012 FJR won't shift

The spring that returns the shift rod to the middle (neutral) position can be found behind the clutch basket and a stamped metal shield. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that the spring broke, or perhaps the pin holding it in place, or the stamped steel end of the shift rod broke, etc...

Does this look particularly BAD to you?

92805K21 They're thinner than the hoses you're replacing, so the original hose clamps won't work. IIRC it was a semi snug fit. I zip tied mine in place, although the caps probably aren't going to move without them.

Does this look particularly BAD to you?

Here's my advice: Blow it out with compressed air (cover your eyes). Replace the screws if you think it'll be awhile until you pull the coolant tube for your next (first?) valve clearance inspection. The rust in the pocket there means there was water sitting in it for awhile. Georgia rain...

Converting Gen 2 AE to A engine - is it possible?

Congrats and job well done, JamesK! See, if you had listened to me when I told you you should split the cases you'd not have found out that splitting the cases wasn't necessary to convert an AE engine to an A. Hell I didn't know it was possible to swap shift drums without splitting because...

Won't stay in 4th gear - What should I do?

Nope, but I'm thinking you could keep the rotor, stator, starter, valve shims, side covers, oil cooler,....aaaaaand that's about it for spare parts. Maybe sell the head for cheap on fleabay and get some of your money back? There are plenty of scrap dealers around us to give you scrap money...
