TIRES?? What tires are everyone running on their FJR?

I didn't even know they were still making the ST. I remember when the GT came out as a replacement for the ST almost 10 years ago. (I had one set of the GT (A spec) and hated them after the first few thousand miles.)

2007 AE Has a low piston 4 pressure

If you decide to go for a replacement engine rather than fixing yours (some great deals pop up on eBay), remember that the "AE" is different from the "A". It is, however, reasonably easy to convert. With your AE donor, it wouldn't even cost parts...

Just pointing out that it is easy to put a higher resolution photo into you post so people can see it more clearly. Avatar images are low resolution...

I just see the photo in your avatar. Photos can be copied and pasted directly into your post. They do not need to be hosted elsewhere on the internet.

Love my FJR but frustrated today

It's nice when the problem is something dumb. Way better than pulling the valve cover again. Looking forward to your test ride report.

Sometimes, weird codes come up with starting failures or poor running. Sometimes you just have to clear them and see if they reappear. Double check to make sure that all vacuum hoses are properly in place and not damaged. I wouldn't expect to see anything if TBS is off. Make sure your intake...

What code from the "check engine"? Anything stored? https://www.fjrforum.com/threads/diagnostic-codes.9612/

A tip on replacing the plug wires. A thin smear of dielectric grease on the rubber where it contacts the valve cover and on the tips of the rubber boot where it contacts the ceramic insulator will make future removal much easier. If you set the valves to the wide side of the specification, it...

    First Valve Clearance Check

Good idea to get it all done at once. With the screwdriver, after retracting the CCT and attaching the vice grip, I think I used some painters tape just to keep it from slipping back and disengaging from the screw. I made one with some Tygon tubing, a couple of "Y" fittings, some automatic...

    First Valve Clearance Check

If they are all at the minimum, I would probably center them all - or even to the 70% of max. (0.009 Exhaust and 0.008 Intake) With the cover screw on the CCT removed, you can fit a long thin blade flat screwdriver in through the frame hole to retract the CCT. I do that and then clamp a small...

    2013 bike

For two-up touring, you might want to consider an aftermarket seat. Possibly a different windscreen as well. Where are you located? Any photos of the bike? Very reliable bikes. I sold my 2007 with 295,000 km and no serious problems. Nothing done (ever) to engine, transmission, clutch...

    Not starting! Mystery

Are all four header pipes the same temperature (or at least close) while it is running badly. First thing I might look for is a plug wire that isn't making good contact. With the cruddy tank, there is a possibility that your fuel injectors got messed up. Couple of things to think about...

    2013 bike

No major issues with 2013 except a recall for the front brake switch. It was the first year of the Gen III FJRs. The cruise control for 2013 was limited to 80 mph (145 km/hr Correction: 129 kph) and some people complained about that. The 2013 has conventional forks. 2014 and later...

    Electrical problem — need help/advice

Except that the brake light doesn't function unless the ignition is on (at least mine doesn't). Yes, a good idea to verify parasitic draw. The issue MIGHT be with the battery. An internal short that discharges might temporarily clear itself but will eventually become a permanent problem.

Let's all gather around and laugh depressingly at what Kawasaki has just created for us. "Ninja 7"

Other big hydrogen problem is storage. Very high pressure to get any amount of hydrogen on board and that means HEAVY steel tanks. Range still extremely limited - even if it didn't require more energy to produce.

    Electrical problem — need help/advice

Has the ignition switch recall been done? A possible source. With respect to the battery mysteriously draining, try checking ignition-off draw using an ammeter. If you CAN'T find anything, you might consider putting a high current capable switch on the battery ground wire so you can easily...

Love my FJR but frustrated today

I wasn't sure if that would give you enough "resolution" to see if you were off by one tooth. The one time I messed up my cam timing during a valve adjustment, I did use those marks to get it back but did the best I could to verify with the sprocket marks. Note to anyone doing anything that...

Love my FJR but frustrated today

Valve cover and timing cover have to come off. At TDC, reference lines on the outside of both the cam gears have to line up with the casing. Not much fun and difficult to see (even with a light and inspection mirror). Next time I have my valve cover off, I am transferring reference marks to...
