    Planning a trip

I like the midland radios, but those headsets looks suspiciously like the ones we bought previously to use with handheld CB radios...which didn't last the trip. Have you used those headsets, or just those radios with other headsets?

    Planning a trip

My plan is the Ozarks over Memorial day weekend. There's a chance that we'll have the opportunity to go on a trip over the 4th of July, but where we'd go then will depend on a bunch of factors. If by some miracle chance I don't have to take any days (between now and July 4th) off other than...

    valves shims CAM PHOTO!

My brother in law tried that with his Ninja 250. It sat all winter in my garage, and not 1 bolt installed itself. A mouse did poop on his seat though, so I guess that's something.

    Planning a trip

We wouldn't actually have even 2 full days in the park, unfortunately, as we've got to be back in the region the weekend after memorial day. And as for rides vs destinations, a nice ride down the river road sounds more fun that hauling *** down the interstate for 2 days. NinjaChick was uncertain...

    Planning a trip

Well, time off, cost, timing, inability to find adequate lodging have caused us to revisit the idea of going to the Ozarks. It looks like Memorial Day weekend is too early for a variety of the places we wanted to go, and already quite busy in the places that are open. And not having the holiday...

    Planning a trip

My wife is applying for some more 'edukashun' and if it happens...well, there probably won't be time or money for any long trips. For 4 years. That means if I want to make a trip out west, it will have to be this summer. So my tentative plan is to go to Yellowstone. I'm looking for tips and...

Brand new 2009AE tranny "clunking" when cold-ish

My 2007 A became silky smooth after a clutch soak... In fact, it makes me think they should have located the oil fill right over the top of the clutch, so that when you do an oil change, it at least gets a 'mini-soak'.

    Vibration Issues Solved

In the interest of science, how many miles did you have on the bike before you took that trip?

    Sears motorcycle jack

You can put a 2x4 under the headers to spread the weight if you wish. Actually, if you want to get real fancy, a few minutes with a 2x4, a saw, and some nails can get you a custom 'stand' that will pick the bike up by the engine instead of the headers: Check it out here.

    Thinking about bluetooth for music

I'm confused, which cord is it that is going bad? Is it the cord where it goes out of the tank bag, or the cord running up to your headphones? I'm just trying to envision what the problem is, is it that the cord is repeatedly flexing in the same spot (perhaps up against the zipper?) and the...

    FJ1300RT Reverse Trike Concept

The FJR does have an advantage as a platform, what with shaft drive. I remember way back in the day, when I used to hang out on some hot-rod forums, a guy was thinking of making a standard-layout trike, and was wondering what motors, other than goldwings, he could get with shaft drive... The...

    Good for a little laugh?

I went for a nice "fall colours" tour this past weekend (with NinjaChick on her ninja, and my parents on their wing). The last place we stopped was an orchard store in La Crescent, and when I was mounting up (after filling my saddlebags with apples), a little boy came up and said my bike looked...

    Cruise control problem

Well, I had precisely the same problem with my Audiovox. I kept putting off fixing it, because I got a throttle rocker, then I got a different seat and had to put the seat height adjustment thing back on...etc. Anyway, it was suggested the the issue was likely a bad ground. I never fixed it...

I'M Buying A Sleeping Bag, Any Recommendations?

My wife and I picked up some Eureka Silver City backpacking mummy bags to use on the bike. They pack down small enough that I can easily find a place for them (I seem to remember putting both bags, backpacking pillows, and some other crap in one saddlebag). They weren't too expensive, and they...

    lowering the fjr

I lowered my 07 with Kouba Links. The links claimed to provide a 7/8 inch drop. I lowered the front the same amount by sliding the forks up in the trees. I didn't modify my centerstand, and for a long time I didn't do anything with the sidestand, but although I had no problems with it, I was...

    Retrofit/Aftermarket Toe Sliders?

You can put something like toe sliders on your boots, but if they have been dragging enough that a significant amount of boot has actually been worn away, you'll probably be dragging those toe sliders pretty hard, as they'll stick out more than the original boot did. Maybe changing your foot...

    Sport-tourer warranty

Would you still have been with the YES period when your CCT went? Would you have brought it in and had the CCT replaced before it blew up? I've still got my YES, and so far I've spent more on repairs that haven't been covered than those that have, and I ended up taking my clutch back off to...
