Anyone using a Motofizz Through Tank Bag?

I used the MotoFizz map bag 2 on my Ural on my trip to Alaska. I can tell you that the four magnetic feet are great and very strong. No movement of the bag at all. Also for all the removal for gas it never left a scratch on the tank. Mac

So how close am I to an ignition failure?

I ride an 07 and have 16K on it and no failures. I would say go and do not worry about it, it sounds like you are prepared just in case. I have cut the two cable ties that keep the wires overtight going into the switch. If you have not already done that you might want to. Ride it and do not...

    1300 mi. Maiden Voyage

Congrats on your purchase. As for your request someone could write a book to explain it all. You know what, someone already has and it is this forum. Spend some time reading it and your questions will be answered. Then you will form your own opinion. Enjoy the ride, you will love the bike...

    Powerlet reliability

Had one on the side of my Ural for heated clothing when I rode the Haul road. Never had a problem and you cannot get more mud on a bike than that. Mac

    Throttle cable lubrication

I lubed my throttle cable for the first time last week. I used the Cable Luber Kit sold by Rider Wearhouse. It costs 22 $ but I think it is well worth it. It is easy to use and my throttle now is very very smooth. I didn't realize how much it was hanging up until I lubed it. Now I will...

Just got back from Prudhoe Bay on my Ural

They told us they were moving a drilling rig down the only road that would take us to the Artic Ocean. We were a little upset to say the least but what could we do. Had I known that we would only see oil rigs and no Ocean on the tour I probably would not have went. After riding that far it...

    Extremely Tight Oil Drain Plug

Totally agree with SkooterG, I use a new crush washer everytime. They are cheap , why not buy a bunch of them . I like the feeling of the washer being crushed and then just tighten a tad more and that is enough. Ignore that factory torque . Never had a leak. Mac

    Rode my FJR today

After some absense from the FJR scene I took mine for a little ride today.. I am in love again, how could I even consider another bike, I am ashamed of myself.. My bike has all the looks, power, smoothness, comfort anyone could ask for. Only 15K on her and she is going to be mine for a long...

    Mt Evans Question

One thing I would suggest is to make the ride in the morning hours. You will have lot better odds of having good weather. The winds and the storms usually pick up from noon on. I have ridden it twice but some years back. Enjoy, its a great ride. Mac

Just got back from Prudhoe Bay on my Ural

Nope, I was not there, the only time I trailer my bikes is when they break down , as my Ural did this time. Don't own a trailer, I leave that to the Sturgis bunch. Mac

Just got back from Prudhoe Bay on my Ural

Just got back from Prudhoe Bay riding my Ural. At least I was riding it until the last 1700 miles. I think if I were to do that again I would purchase a good used KLR and not worry about how buggered up it got. My riding partner wrote a blog of our trip if you are interested . He has some...

    Bt021 mileage front vs. back

Geez, you need to get off the front brake. My front tire will always outlast the rear by 1-2 K miles. I have 8 K on my 021's now and it looks like I have an easy 1 or 2 K left. Having said that I don't like the way the 021's handle after they have a little wear. I have a set of 020's ready...

    Terrible Headshake and the solution

I got 8700 miles on my oem BT020's , I changed the set as the rear tire was worn down to the wear marks. I could have gotten at least another thousand or two out of the front. There was no cupping what so ever on the front. I run 40 lbs in the front tire. I then mounted BT 021's and altho...

08 | GPS Speed vs Speedometer

My 07 is off by about 4-5 mph at that speed according to my GPS. So if I want to ride at 70 mph I just ride at indicated 75. Mac

Givi V46 LED tail & Brake lights

I just wanted to go on record in saying that Fred is a real stand up guy. I purchased a light kit from him last Dec and finally got around to installing it. One of the connectors had a pin that was not inserted properly. I contacted Fred and he was quite concerned and told me he would send my...
