I just replaced mine yesterday with a PIAA sport. Even got to use it today when a someone decided it was alright to try ease his way into my lane over the course of 1 mile. Loud enough or him to hear it at highway speeds.

I know going from my VFR800 the 2013 FJR felt taller. But this is because of the wider seat on the FJR. Could it be that the Gen1 seat is narrower?

What brands do you have access to in Ireland? I would imagine that brands such as Olympia or Motoport may not be available to you unless you are willing to import it directly from across the pond.

I agree. It's not so much about making it absolutely sure fire safe as it would be impossible. It's more about making it just a bit safer. If wearing hi-viz will help you avoid an accident in certain situations, then the only thing damaged is my sense of fashion.

Not really. Just noticed in the second picture that there are 3 different styles going on with the "FJR" under the seat, "YAMAHA" on the cover and then the "FJR1300" on the slider. Too much text going on in a small area, IMO. Why not just let the lines of the bike do the talking? Otherwise...

What's with the font of the "FJR1300"? It doesn't seem like it matches anything on the bike.

That would be the salt spray pattern on my truck during my trip to Ohio to pick up my bike. The raised lip of the gas fill door caused that black void. Fun with fluid dynamics.

I just did mine at 775. Engine oil was still really clean. The shaft oil was another story. But then again, I've never seen diff fluid or shaft oil ever not look like crap. :-)

What camera do you have? I got the vertical grip for my d90. It can take two batteries and even a AA carrier as backup.
