    which auto chain oiler

An O-ring chain should not require all that much lubrication. All that should be needed is just enough to keep the outer surfaces from corroding, and/or to keep grit and debris clear of the sprocket areas. In theory, the O-rings prevent any lube you apply from entering the chain internals, just...

Bike fell while on center stand

Do you have full coverage insurance? It looks like you easily have enough damage to exceed most deductibles, especially if the sub frame (or whatever holds that mirror) is bent. Most insurance companies won't raise your rates for things like this, so it might be worth having an adjuster take a look.

I bet Ponyfool and Pigster know this guy...

Gunny! Executing a pass and hitting 100 on the FJR takes just seconds, and is not inherently dangerous, depending on traffic conditions. IMO, passing quickly is sometimes the safest way around other vehicles. You spend less time exposed to oncoming traffic. As long as it wasn't double yellow or...

    Speeders Targeted Hwy. 41

I spend a fair amount of time on 41 (work related). You'll find a lot of traffic enforcement on the Southern half, less up North. The area around Eden (Cty HwyB) is a notorious speed trap. There's a hill there, and they love to pop Northbound traffic as it crests the hill. Keep it under 75 in...

    New music project beginning

THAT'S the song I was trying to think of! Not Ridin' the Storm Out. Dunno why I came up with the wrong title....

    New music project beginning

Ridin' the Storm Out - REO Speedwagon. They had other tunes that would work as well. Bob Seger also comes to mind, Against the Wind has some good keyboard stuff. Turn the Page would be another Seger song.

    Oil on garage floor?

So maybe it's not motor oil then? Try checking final drive oil and look for any leaks/drips around the swingarm/driveshaft/final gearcase area.

    DuHamel's replacement

Don't count Miguel out just yet. He's ridden through severe injuries before. I'm not a huge fan of Honda or Miguel, just giving credit where it's due - he's one tough SOB and I would not be ONE BIT surprised to see him back in action this year.

Iowa Motorcyclist Killed In WI by Drunk Driver-more...

If the court lets her off with a minimal sentence such as probation, they are sending a message that penalties such as those listed above will not be enforced. This basically tells people that killing someone as a drunk driver (biker or not) is an OK thing to do - nothing really bad will happen...

Crashed FJR & "God really loves me"

    I picked the wrong vehicle

Yes, how convenient. Simply light the tree on fire and by the time the deer falls out of the burned up branches, it's ready to serve!!

    Radluck

AHA!!! Now it all comes clear! Your recent difficulties with Frank were NOT the result of pissing Murphy off. Rather, it was Murphy using up all your bad Karma for you so you'd have enough good mojo to save you from the bridge! Yin and Yang are back in rad-balance :)

    Spider Net

I've used 'em. I guess I never really shopped brand on things like this. They do come in different sizes, and you want to make sure the hooks are plastic coated on the ends to avoid excessive scratches in your paint. That's all I can think of....

    Rebuild Nightmare

To pay for the parts, right? You weren't baggin' on him for fixing it himself (doing it right)? Oh, wait, I remember now that you have a dealer you can trust to work on ****. You're a lucky dude. :P

    Aftermarket retailers

Have you checked OEM prices lately? They're right in step. Keep in mind the price of a manufactured product is more than the sum of labor and material to build it. One has to purchase equipment and space to work in. The product must be designed, prototyped and tested. Then you must advertise so...

How to better avoid death & dismemberment...

Dude, accourse you can! The Force is limitless, remember? I ain't the only one out there using the Evil Eye. I've spoken to other riders who do the same. Many of the critters out there have a highly developed sense of danger. Using the Evil Eye means mentally putting yourself in a place where...

Need more techy help on the puter

Have you tried downloading the latest driver for your OS? was the OS the same on the puter you tested on? Was it updated to the same level as yours (service packs, etc)? Just wondering if you eliminated driver/OS conflict possibility. Otherwise you're tearing into hardware. Hate to say it, but...

Emphasis and Value on Cosmetic Appearance

To me, cleaning the bike is a part of maintenance. When I clean the bike, I'm also looking around for loose, broken parts, leaks, or anything else out of the ordinary. This helps me spot problems before they become severe enough to sideline the bike. This isn't to say I spend all my time...

Saw a crashed 2008 Concours today

Really? Have you considered looking for a good low-mile '05 FJR? Remember, NONE of the Gen I bikes had altitude surging problems. Also, the GEN I has shorter wheelbase and a lighter dry weight, which generally make for easier handling. B)

How to better avoid death & dismemberment...

Creature Evasion - now why is that not part of driver training?? I wonder if even the MSF covers this? Anyway, here's what I've found to be most effective. Now keep in mind I live and ride in semi-rural areas where the creatures are still skittish around humans. If you live in a city where the...
