2011 IBR - The Inside View

More speculation: Assuming Gold Metal status is points based again this year, does this give us some insight on what future capital point values may be? I would think they could not increase that much or it would negate the value of the 4 corners.

2011 IBR - The Inside View

After reading Jeff's excellent analysis this armchair rally rider is changing his mind. With the uncertainty of getting a computerized receipt and gas the timeline and miles are just too tight. My analysis was based on rolling into Hyder, getting a receipt and back on the road. It will be very...

2011 IBR - The Inside View

Wait, isn't Meese one of the riders heading to Hyder. Oh you said rookies, nevermind. :) Given the limited knowledge of bonii and point values, I'd say the 3 riders heading to AK are in the money. A good route is less than 5,400 miles and includes 6 capitols. Certainly doable without undue...

Announcing the Rally Rallye 2011 Style

Sounds like something someone in the Expert class would do. :) Probably have multiple GPS units and one of those fuel cell thingy's too.

    XM Radio for the FJR?

I thought I was the only one still using the Roady. You can still find new ones like this if you look around. https://cgi.ebay.com/Complete-Delphi-XM-Satellite-Radio-Roady-2-NEW-BOX-/330570439985?pt=Satellite_Radio&hash=item4cf7889d31

    Butt Lite 6IX

What TriggerT said. You may want to try a shorter rally first. Kinda like running a marathon without first running around the block. Sure you could probably do it, but would it be fun? Living in MN your in the heart of the midwest rally country. You have three 12 hour rally's within a 5 hour...

    Bonzai

Notice the exclusion of any adjectives, allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions as to nature of said experience. I CAN tell you it was a painful start listening to this experienced LD rider lament, moan, groan, and curse during the 'input stage' of the rally. I was half expecting a...

    Bonzai

The only ribs I'm breakin' will be at Bob's tomorrow. :)

    Bonzai

Final preparations are underway. This weekend I'll be one of several forum members wearing out their tires on those sweet Wisconsin alphabet roads. Most are competing in the expert class, but Triggert is getting his rally cherry popped. :) Let the good times roll.

    IBR Checkpoint Request

I'll be at the checkpoint and will gladly take care of you old oil. Maybe I can EBay it. Genuine IBR rally oil. No monetary incentive required, only a promise to reciprocate the favor someday. :)

    Minuteman 1000

Congrats Perry! Look out IBR. My heart goes out to the unlucky ST rider. Hope they're able to pull another ride together quickly. Damn forest rats.

Announcing the Rally Rallye 2011 Style

Some rallies put you in expert class if you show up with a fuel cell, regardless of rider experience. Just sayin'....

Where I was at lunch today

I used to shark fish off that old wooden pier back in the 80's. Good times. Oh yeah, almost forgot. :finger:

    Rifle Tuning Block

    Excellent news Frank!

    Rifle Tuning Block

True dat. The tuning block raises the shield and changes the angle a bit in addition to increasing the spacing. I'd post of pic of my old one but it didn't survive the last 'incident'.

What Rallies are you riding in this season?

Nice rally schedule! Looks like I'll be running into you most of the summer. I'll be at all those, although I may be on the other side of the table at CFO.

    Rifle Tuning Block

I know it's a long shot, but anyone have a tuning block they want to part with?

Rust in gas tank, now what?

A little late, but I used the electrolysis method to successfully clean a very rusty '82 Seca 550 tank last fall. I'm sure the commercial sealers will do a good job but am trying to keep the $$ on this restore to a minimum. Don't know if it will rust again but it doesn't cost much to use this...
