    2010 for 1300

If you have a factory service manual you can look at diagnostic fault codes and tests you can perform while in diagnostics.  Do you have a fault lamp displayed on the dash?

Are tires getting more difficult to remove and mount ?

Had a beach of a time removing the OEM Metzler steel belted rear tire on my '10 FJR shortly after buying it in '16. Finally had to cut the tire in half to get it off right up and around the center. I also use a mojo bar with a Harbor Freight tire mounting stand. I see why Yamaha didn't stick...

    '13 high Frequency Vibration

Would also be nice if you could sync the throttle bodies above idle like you can on a gen2 but not on the gen3. A smooth idle doesn't do much good when you're going down the road.

    Steering Bearing and Head Shake

Michelin PR3s solved the problem 100% on my 2010 FJR. The original Metzler with that wavy tread pattern just sucked so bad they made my ears pop.

    Oil

Why try to re-invent the wheel? I find that I can't do better than Yamalube 15-50 especially when it comes to smooth transmission gear changes. That and I give Yamaha credit for knowing what lubricants to feed their motorcycles. Same with the BMW it gets the BMW 15-50 synthetic blend which is...

    The Hog Phenomenon

Yeah, I spent a few years (4-1/2 active) in the canoe club although my time was all on surface ships. All decommissioned now and scrapped. As far as bustanut goes He's OK, maybe a little well... goofy but then aren't we all.... kind of? Headed for Mo's now for salmon, yummmm....

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

Yes, you can look at the TPS in diagnostics but how easy is it to see a flat spot using a digital readout. One of these days I'm going to look at mine and note the max a min values so if I ever have to replace it I'll just set the new one to these max/min values. The OP might have a hard time...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

I was wondering what the throttle body sync looks like when the throttle is turned up a bit. Look for threads that describe the totally unauthorized throttle body sync. This made a noticeable difference in smoothness on my bike. Early in this thread someone mentioned a bad TPS and I think...

    The Hog Phenomenon

Hi Ray, I probably over reacted and I agree Barry is probly not a bad guy. I mean if i had to spend winter where he lives I'd probably be ornery myself. I think I better quit while I'm ahead. lol..lol.. or maybe I'm behind and too dumb to know it. Hey Barry, maybe a little snort of the Evan...

    The Hog Phenomenon

Hi there bustanut What's the matter, lousy weather in good ol' Owosso got you all bored with nothing to do but insult people you don't even know? Where did you ever come up with that lame handle as in bustanut? Bet you really had to overwork the old brain cells on that one. On the other hand...

    The Hog Phenomenon

As far as the OP is concerned I agree with you in that it did seem he was just out to stir up trouble nothing more. That said I think some of the responses were a bit callous and took the entire post deeper into the muck. I see nothing to be gained by lowering oneself to the same level and...

    The Hog Phenomenon

Good write up Larry. I don't bash HDs and in 45 years of riding I've never ridden an HD. I do admire the esthetics of the brand and especially like the Heritage Edition models. They are just artwork on two wheels, imo. One potential problem I've always thought I might have with an HD is...

FJR Has Gotten Too Heavy. What To Buy?

This is a big reason why I keep my '93 R1100RSL. The RS weighs about 120 lbs less than the FJR and has that flat twin low CG. I had a '04 R1150RT and I found the oilhead RTs to have a very high center of gravity and the power assist integrated brakes made matters worse so I would stay clear of...

the fjr does more than i thought

Yup, new tires should definitely do it and might I suggest Michelin PR series then run 42 rear and 40 front. I notice you're from the south. I graduated from Medford when there was only one high school. At that time the Californians hadn't found the place. Gone are those days.

Used FJR purchase - Service advice requested

No recalls on the 2010. Can't remember where I heard this but I think 2010 was, at the time, the only year with no recalls.

Used FJR purchase - Service advice requested

Congrats on your purchase of what imo is a great motorcycle. My 2010 FJR is my first FJR and in 45 years on street bikes I thinks it's my favorite. My FJR just turned over 10K miles and I would recommend you consider changing fork oil and while you're at it flush the forks with kerosene then...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

Why don't you check around and see if there is an FJR club in your area? I would be surprised if there wasn't. Or you could go for a thousand mile ride north to my location and I'll ride your bike. Maybe pour in a bottle of Chevron Techron when you begin your ride north. I'll keep the lights...

Same thing happened on my cage. Not going to do that again.
