    Grip Pupplies or Bar Ends

Look at some Motovation Stainless Bar ends. Also, Bike-Master Soft Grips are more comfortable than Grab-Ons. Puppies if you have heated grips. The Motovation pieces are nice and heavy.

    Flash to Pass

Flash to pass might work on the Autobahn but in my experience here in America, you're perfectly free and even encouraged to go 50mph in the fast lane while eating a meatball sub with a dog in your lap and talking on a cell phone. I just exercise patience and then pass them as soon as I can. I...

    Fan Override Switch

My FJR's an '03 so the temp gauge doesn't have the resolution that Gen 2 bikes have. It seems that the computer kicks the fan on at about the top of 4 bars. When I come off the highway and start to get into traffic, I hate watching the temperature rise. I know Yamaha would never let our engines...

First ride of the new year

This winter season I haven't gotten to ride much at all. With the ice storm and the super cold temps all winter long riding time is sparse. Usually December is filled with 60° days, January has some 50° days and February has some great 40°+ days. Not this year. Hell, we had hurricane force...

Do you think we'll see a crossplane crank

I second that! Weight savings would be preferable to HP gains. I wish Yamaha would make more use of the 90° L-Twin engine like Ducati. Check out the weights of their bikes. Very light. For a slab eater like the FJR, though, some weight is welcome. I actually sort of like the heaviness of it...

Shoei RF1000 or Arai Quantum 2 more quiet?

I just had a chance today to ride wearing an RF-1000. No doubt it's quieter than the Quantum. You're right, the quantum is noisy! Sounds like two drummers sitting inside your ears just pounding away. I wear custom plugs anyways so it's not nearly as bad. My EXO-700 is quieter than any other...

Shoei RF1000 or Arai Quantum 2 more quiet?

I can vouch for the Quantum 2 in that it's quiet and made extremely well. It has a clean shape and it very compact. If the Quantum is right for your head, you'll like it. If you're buying online, try Motorcycle Superstore. They have factory fresh helmets and even state the year made in the...

    Electric and 150 MPH

I'm salivating. I'll need a drool bucket when they make it good looking. As of now it looks like a radiator cover from my old house in Chicago. Saw a video of an S-10 converted to electric. You pop the hood and the only thing in there is an electric motor way down in the cradle. On the drag...

    How Close?

That's something you hope to see only in your imagination. I say a prayer whenever I approach someone in a turning situation. It's a great argument for running interference and using a car to protect yourself.

    Blow Off the Cobwebs Ride

I think I ran into this little terror on the Dragon last season. Tighten up your turns there little whippersnapper!

    Cornering confidence

Great article. CLICK The best advise, go in slower unless you know the curve and practice, practice, practice. Riding gently (read: going the speed limit), and anyone can handle a bike. Start to speed up and a whole new set of skills and judgment become necessary.

    HELP !!!!!!!!! Need advice.

You can also Dremel slots into them and use a large screwdriver with a square shank and a small adjustable wrench. They're probably just tight, not frozen tight. There's also just enough of a rounded lip on them to get a small pair of Vise-Grips on them. Just carefully mask right up to them.

    Exhaust Pipe Heat Shields

So anyways, here are some pics of the way the Targa Heat Shields look on an FJR. I was able to make it so that the clamps are almost invisible. At least not noticeable.

    Exhaust Pipe Heat Shields

Oh man! You'll see it instantly. they're about a tenth of an inch thick, the surface is machined to to have grip lines and the holes aren't just punched, the edges are machined. I don't care how much they are, my bike deserves them. Real nice people to deal with. ( I don't work there, I swear)...
