ice cooled vest?

was an article or ad once about a cooling vest that used circulating water thru an external ice reservior. been googling for it but haven't been able to find the one(s) with external ice pack and pump.

anyone got a link?

No, but I use this Vest because of the humidity here. Also, the 65F transition point is more comfortable than the 32F ice. Works great for commuting but not so good for 2+hour rides

I use a vest very similer to yours BwanaDik, I aggree after a few hours it's time to re-soak it. I think I only paid around 30.00 for mine.

Holy crap, you'd need to give up one of your side cases to tote that thing around (not to mention the price tag)! :blink:

Get one of the cooling vests... only costs $30-40... I have one (TechNiche) and it works wonders in the heat. I just keep in a ziplock bag on the bike... doesn't take up much room at all. Fill the bag with water, let it soak for a bit, and voila!

Gunny on wet vests. The difference in real heat is amazing. It has to be re-hydrated, a small price to pay when the road is cookin ya to death.

A techniche cooling vest, camelback, and an ice cooler bungeed to the tail rack with water and gatoraid is the ticket when ride'n in the summer here in Az! (The camelback is the best for sippin water every 10 minutes when over 110) I strap the camelback to the rear seat and have a retractable line I got from the dollar store that I hook the hose to my belt loop for easy access

BTW, the receptacles come in boxes labeled "small, medium, large", but the supply guys always change that to

In anyplace East of the Pecos or South of the Mason-Dixon line, the only thing that happens with those evaporator vests is you get wet. Nothing else. So then you're soaked and hot instead of just sweaty and hot.

That's very similar what I had on my knee after surgery. Kept it running all the time to keep the swelling down. I could see where it would work for well

Man, some of that stuff is way bulky and crazy expensive. I'd just take the truck with the A/C on if I was that hot. I know you're right about the evaporative vests working best (or maybe even working at all) when humidity is low, but they sure work here. And anybody who didn't click on Patriot's link--or doesn't already know that website--it's the CalSci website, and one of my favorite m/c sites anywhere. And he doesn't even sell a tenth of the stuff he talks about. I think he just likes to offer up opinions (like a lot of us) but his are pretty good, as a rule. Makes damn fine FJR windscreens too, for my money.
