    Gear changers

I am in Scooter's camp on this issue. I have 72,000 miles on my 2014ES and have been doing clutch free up shifting 2nd gear up from day one.

2017 ES: Removing panels around lockbox

I had a recent encounter with replacing the rubber plug in the glove box as well. I was running a iphone charging cord from the receptacle through the plug and had to remove it in order to snip enough off the nipple to run the cord through. When replacing the plug I ran into a session of mental...

    Donner Pass

I have done all the passes cited and theist time I rode Tiago Pass they asked me if I had a Park reservation. I explained I was simply planning to take rt 120 to meet up with some friends in Groveland. They let me proceed with warning next time I will need a reservation. Point here is, if you...

    Shaft Servicing Duration

Now that many have posted about the need or not to service the drive shaft U-Joint, have any of you ever had one fail die to lack of servicing? I have been on this forum a number of years and do not recall any such issue. How about those of you who have in excess of 100,000 miles on your FJR??

    Side Case Protection

I too used 3M clear protection film when the bags were new. I found using a heat gun on low made the application smooth.

    Shaft Servicing Duration

Quick question on U-joint lube. I have not looked at the U-joint in several years. Does it have a grease zerk? If no how and who do you service it? I have 70k on my 2014 and never served the U-joint.

    Shaft Servicing Duration

When I pulled the final drive to have it re-geared I greased the splines when reassembling. That was about 55,000 miles ago. As for the final drive oil, I change it every time I change the motor oil (5,000 miles).

    Time to say goodbye

Tell your Pop to keep riding as long as he feels capable. Age is only a number to a point. I am 82 and enjoy riding just as much now as I did when I was 40 years younger. My riding buddy Gary and I do two multi thousand mile rides every spring and fall. Life is good enjoy it on a FJR!!

    Wiring iPhone Charging Cord

Thanks Joe, I ordered that brand on Amazon but the 30W w/o charging cord.. I have a lot of Apple cords. I will run the cord through the drain boot at the bottom of the glove box. This is strictly for iPhone. I have a fused pig tail from battery to run my battery tender.

    Wiring iPhone Charging Cord

Many thanks!! I will do just that.

    Wiring iPhone Charging Cord

Thanks Ross. The reason I wanted to use the connection outside the glove box is because my glove box is full of stuff I use on a regular basis. Perhaps I can find a USB cigarette lighter adapter that is very short and not protruding far into the glove box cavity.

    Wiring iPhone Charging Cord

I would like to wire a charging cord from the glove box junction but have a couple questions. A. Is it possible to directly connect an iPhone pigtail to the location where the feed line connects to side of the glove box exterior? B. Is the glove box circuit switched? Not important just...

    Odometer Error

I do not question your mathematical calculations but I can assure you I have checked my speedo against GPS and the occasional roadside speed indicators. In every case my speedo is exactly in sync with the other devices. I also think I get a bit more miles out of a 190. Oh, I forgot to mention it...

    Odometer Error

This topic has been hashed over a number of times in the past 47 years. If you want to get your speedo in sync with your GPS all you need to do is change your rear tire to a 190-55. Not sure how that would work on a GenII but it worked on my 2014ES. It is dead on.

    gear neutral display on lcd

On my 2014ES the 5th gear LCD sometimes does not display. It is intermittent which I find curious. Any thoughts as to cause?? Tk's.

Some LEDs to light the way.

Slightly off specific topic and yes, I did try the search function. Has anyone here changed out the GenIII tail lights to LED? I have noticed the OEM's are very weak.
