    Hydration System

I bought a bite valve drinking tube with a variety of bottle caps from the Aerostitch folks. You buy water/gatorade or whatever and use the appropriate cap. No worries aout growing slime and mold :dribble: in the container. Really I've just settled on using Aquafina water or whatever with the...

Brand new and already smacked up!

I too was there on my Feej. It was good to meet you again after Sommerset. My comments on this topic: 1. The cage driver has the right to assume you are at the speed limit when he's/she's judging turning space 2. Careful flashing headlight with the switch - can be interpreted as "go ahead" 3...

    Suggested shortcuts for coolant change

The "********" how to looks like an excellent write up, but it looks like it refers to the Gen 1. I haven't seen a write up using the Gen 2.

    GPS Options

I too use the 60Cx - very robust, works for trekking type applications, works for the road after buying the maps. It's easy to download your custom routes and waypoints etc. from the 'puter. It will calculate a route - for example "take me back to ???" The downside is smallish buttons, not touch...

PR2's and just about everything else sold out?!

What about other 2 compound tires that other manufacturers are offering. Anyone tried an alternative to the PR2

    Anyone used the list yet?

I used to own a Concours and I still belong to the "Concours Owner's Group" (www.cog-online.org). The forum there is not the best, but much good info is available to members. They have annual dues and formal structure. It has been going for many years. I continue to be a member because I like it...

    Average age of FJR owners

me - 63 - hence my navatar I think FJR demographics is typical for motorcycles in general these days. Up until the economy crash, bike sales were in a bit of a boom, but the ave buyer age was + 40 and rising. The manufacturers are trying to figure out how to get whipper snappers interested. My...

    Paint Scratch

Anyone tried "Nu-finish" which I see advertised on TV to fix scratches?

    Disk Brake locks

".................................there is a better device. A plain, cheap, generic bike cover......................." +1 on the cover. Bike just seems to disappear when it's on, keeps kids from f'n with it and protects farkles and bungied stuff. Cheap scruffy one is good, a buddy had his new...

    Clutch and brake fluids

The brake ABS system "has a hydraulic unit containing 3 control valves (each with solenoid valve, flow control valve), 2 buffer chambers, 2 hydraulic pumps and an ABS motor". The flow of brake fluid when brake is applied is into the hydraulic unit then to the caliper. The service manual under...

    Where's your sweet spot

During my college days, to find the sweet spot, I found a bottle of red wine and an old Matovani album worked well. :yahoo: Ohh! sorry I'm still flogging and horse is dead.

    Ignition key problem 08

I had same problem, yep bent key, gently flattened it by tapping with a hammer on flat steel surface. I couldn't see in fractures in the key's surface, but made it the spare key. I always carry the red key. BTW I think twisting was caused opening the bags. 1) Is there any problem using the red...

I feel so dirty and quite ashamed...

Come home early, ring the front door bell, run around to the back door to see who runs out.

    loving your fuel pump

I was told that the gasoline in the tank is both coolant and lubrication for the fuel pump - is this true? If so, does running the fuel level well into reserve (or empty) affect things adversely?

    FJRF009.0: Ground Spider Research

Thanks for your great work on the "spider problem" with the gummint. I filled out and submitted the Transport Canada on line form although I have not had the problem yet. I quoted that I didn't want to experience a catastrophic failure while on the road in order to raise the issue.

    Ground Spider failure (S4)

What plastic etc. do I need to remove to look at the spider which seems to be the main concern under the left front somewhere? The easiest way - low mechanicl ability.

    My FeeJ bit me

A trick I use to add clearance to help get the wheels off is to put the CS on a wood board to raise it up. To do it, I roll the back wheel onto a piece of board then use the CS on it's board. I think it would help for lowered bikes.

    FJRF009.0: Ground Spider Research

I agree. I have filled out the form on Transport Canada web page provided by Bramfrank. I briefly described my concern and referenced the FJRforum site, stated it hasn't happened to me yet and included the quote above. You must be brief since they only allow 500 characters. It would help if...

    FJRF009.0: Ground Spider Research

Bram - thanks for your work and great info. I have saved it, touch wood hoping won't need it. Now I need to find your Zumo evaluation again.
