    A Note from Tyler

Wow, Tyler, it's been a long journey. You're right, the world is such an amazing place, and life is such a drug. Once you were through those frightening early days, I had no doubt that it was only a matter of time before I was reading your latest "I'm going home" letter. Good luck, kiddo

    Creeping up on an FJR

I'm with the Bluesman; one doesn't creep up on an JFR. One vaults, or scrambles,or a the very least, climbs. I prefer vault or scramble because it infers a kind of enthusiasm that isn't inherent in "creep". Having said that, take the test ride, decide which model you want, and go for it.

One Fu*king month with no cigarettes!

You can do it, Bob. Somewhere, at the end of the tunnel, there's a light. My Dad stopped smoking 20 years ago when he was 68. He quite cold turkey when the Dr. diagnosed him with lung cancer. He's 88 now and still drives around like a demon. You tell a teenager that he's going to have 5...

    Tough Crossings

Good call, Michael. I think you just might have been able to cross over into the oncoming lane and traversed that, but even so, it would have been touch and go. Even if you were successful, you would have had to deal with those evil looking rain clouds in the picture.

    Gift giving ideas for Christmas

Mine would have to be in one of those boxes they gift wrap fishing poles in.

December 7, 1941-Thanks to Many Brave US Veterans.

I'm blessed, my father is still around and in good health. He fought in WWII on a PT boat and took part in many battles. Mike, above, mentions the Higgins landing craft. Higgins, along with Elco, made almost all of the American PT boats of WWII. Ordinary people doing what needed to be done...

    Not a NASCAR fan...

I am truly and deeply in love. I have just told the wife that if there is some disturbance in the space/time continuum, or some suspension from the hard reality of statistics, not to mention good taste, if Danica were to present herself by my bedside and asked to sample the delights of Madjack...

    Roll Tide!!

"Classy" might not be the adjective of choice when he stated on Dec 21, 2006 that "I am not going to be the Alabama coach", and then meeting with Alabama officials eleven days later. Saben is obviously a great coach, but the way he handled his departure from Miami rubbed a lot of people the...

Have you ever seen Mike in nylons? For a man, he's very attractive.

    The River

Please tell me that that isn't a smudge of lipstick on the coffee cup. I've heard rumors, but being one of OM's myriad worshipers, I've always discounted them.

    What is best post-ride refreshment?

I'm 63, but I swear to my fellow Forumites that this guy is an exact double of me! OK, maybe not. My abs are a little more defined than his. When are we going to go riding, Barb?

    What is best post-ride refreshment?

I'm kind of partial to an icy cold Barq's, myself. Not much of a drinker, but I must say that many tame libations are enhanced by a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream.
