    MotorCyclist Customizes a '13

Wouldn't bother me. I ride my wife's little Ninja 650R and that damn thing has 6 gears. We all get used to whatever we ride. No worries. ....maybe I'm the one misunderstanding his point. lol

    MotorCyclist Customizes a '13

Yes we all know that. That is not RaiderBills point. He is just simply saying it runs fine in 5th gear anywhere from Interstate speed up to the max speed. The only reason why the 6th gear thing comes up is because our prime competitor the C14 has it. We'd all be fine if it had a 6th gear but...

    MotorCyclist Customizes a '13

If you want more "touring" get a Goldwing. Agreed! Would I complain if it had a 6th gear? No. But do I feel like it doesn't work well with only 5 gears? No. I get 42-45 mpg riding all day long in the mountains and running 80-85 mph interstate. In a way it's actually nice to be 500-750 rpm...

Bridgestone Battlax - only got 1900 miles out of the front tire

Just ordered a set of Battlax BT-023-GT from motorcycle superstore. I figured I'd give these a try based on this thread. Will never order another set of Michelin PR3's . Hate the extra horizontal tread pattern and the front tire is scalloping those lines at the dual compound side ridge and...

Anyone using a smaller Shad case? Maybe an SH33 or SH37?

I have the SH-45 and the SH-26. I use the 45 for overnight trips & 2up trips with my wife. I use the 26 for day rides. The 26 still holds a full face helmet and you can store a surprising amount of gear in there. SH-26 with bags off for long dayrides. SH-45 with saddlebags & 2up.

When Did You Last Service Your Hand Levers?

I hear ya! :) I'm gonna grease mine tonight. Maybe it will shift even smoother than before. Preventative maintenance is NEVER a bad thing!

When Did You Last Service Your Hand Levers?

My bike is almost 9yrs old & its never been done & it works just fine & shifts/brakes smoothly and nothing sticks at all. Ya'll must ride through mud/snow/ice all the time. That being said I think I'll grease all these pivot points this week. I think the Yamaha "suggested" maintenance...

    Traxxion Suspension Upgrade...what I learned.

Very true! People that are looking for one simple across the board answer to their particular suspension needs based on their climate, riding style, total riding weight...etc prob are going to be disappointed. Suspension is not a one size fits all proposition and depending on the...

    Best seats?

I know. If you want a budget minded custom seat go with Laam. Just don't expect it to be a RDL, its not. However my guess is the Laam is prob good enough for 75% of the riders out there and it's significantly better than most other seats and it is a true custom seat. That being said, if you...

    Best seats?

Here is my personal scorecard for some FJR seats I've tried scoring from 0-10...10 being the highest score for comfort. RDL Russell +10 Laam +8 Sargent +7 Corbin +5 Stock -100,000 Best bang for your buck is Laam. However the best is still Russell and ultimately you get what you pay for. Don't...

    Mile High Camp & Ride

LOL...I think that's a common misconception in that if you stop & take a few pictures your not riding much. We rode over 400 miles each day and much of that was hard twisties riding. There were many, many miles where I was twisting the throttle and smiling for long stretches and leaning the bike...

    Traxxion Suspension Upgrade...what I learned.

Well after 2 days in the mountain twisties and another 860 miles on the bike I have a good feel for the bikes new suspension now. 2-Day RR Two things stand out to me about this suspension in the mountains. 1. Much higher ground clearance & lean angle now. 2. No more front end dive on hard...

    Mile High Camp & Ride

Me & Earthrooster (Jesse) did a 2-day ride & tent camping trip. Since our wives couldn't make it this time we decided to just do a guys trip and tent camp for the night. We camped at the Mile High Campground in NC on top of the Blue Ridge @ 5,400'. It's right on the edge of the Cherokee Indian...

    Traxxion Suspension Upgrade...what I learned.

No. But I'm sure if you call Traxxion & ask for Dan or Lee he could explain why. I'm sure there is a good reason and I"m sure it's because my upgrade with the OEM valving and the Ak-20 style of suspension along with their valving is an apples to oranges comparison. Give them a call tomorrow and...
