    CO Adjustments

I have found what seems to be jetting nirvana for my bike. I decided to return to the accelerator pump tool after abandoning it earlier when I struggled with it. On my earlier jetting attempts I was adding enrichment during 1-3K RPMs using the higher TPS% readings. After thinking about it...

    Special Batttery Charger?

I'm sure someone knows if our bikes come with an AGM battery, but if they do a regular battery charger is not good for them(or any AGM battery for that matter). They require one with low AC ripple and no desulfate mode. Also AGM batteries should be trickle charged once their charge level...

    Wiring Harness Needed

I want to give a big public Thank You to Brodie. He sent me a PCM connector for nothing, and only wanted my old one in return. It helped me out a bunch. I hope I'm able to return the favor one day Brodie!! Joe

    running lean

Can you hole a piston by running a 4 stroke lean? Absoutely. Will slip on cans lean your FJR out enough to cause that to happen? I don't know. If it did happen it would do it while you were topped out, and you say that's where the power has changed...

    CO Adjustments

Sorry the accelerator pump was of no use. I should have forewarned you that I have no experience using it. It just seemed like it would have been a good idea for your issue. No problem. It looked pretty interesting. I was excited about it, but I sure can't make it work correctly. I haven't...

    CO Adjustments

For your roll-on hesitation problem, you might want to considering enabling and programming the accelerator pump option on the PCIII. It's downloadable from their web site. I gave that accelerator pump program a try. I loaded it on my FJR and a buddies V-Strom. We were tuning both bikes all...

    CO Adjustments

How did I miss this part of you post!?!? Scratch that last post (I don't want to edit it thought...) Back to the drawing board. Joe

    CO Adjustments

I need to put a few more miles on the bike to confirm this is the final setting, but this feels pretty good. I'm sure I will end up tinkering with it in the future, but it's pretty darn close to what I was after. Under normal operating conditions, the hesitation is all but gone. The mixture...

    CO Adjustments

Hi Lucas, I had to take some fuel away in irder to get my idle settled down. A setting of -10 on my PC got my CO numbers in order, and smoothed out the idle nicely. I'm happy with it. The transition between Decel Fuel Cutout, and Acceleration Enrichment is pretty abrupt on our bikes. I...

    Tuning for economy

There really isn't too much tuning you can do mileage-wise. As long as the O2 sensor is plugged in and working correctly it will keep the mixture at 14.7:1 at steady cruise. That's a great fuel mixture for a compromise of performance and mileage. Your best chance of any gains are the driving...

    Tuning for economy

It should be pretty easy to do, and free to try. Return the fuel settings to 0 at the RPM/TPS cells that match your cruise speeds. Plug your O2 sensor back in. Leave all the other settings alone. REPORT BACK! :) Joe

    Newbie Technical Question

Yup. It's just that easy...until you break something! :)

    All these modifications on FJRs?

Honda uses a very sophisticated fuel injection system on their bike. ?The Yamaha one is REALLY primitive by comparison... but so is every other bike as well. I've installed and started fooling with a PCIII to get rid of a hesitation at low throttle openings. I am not doing it to try to make...

    CO Adjustments

I've just started monkeying with the PCIII and the gas bench. I wanted to give an update. This is NOT the final version, but here's what I've got so far. I've got quite a bit of test time in. My single goal it to get the engine to accelerate smoothly between 1000 RPMs and 3000 RPMs...

    CO Adjustments

i arrived home this week to find my PCIII waiting for me. I'm going on a weekend-long trip in a few hours, so I will have to wait until monday AM to start fooling around with it. I will be sure to post what I find. Joe

What makes the high pitched mechanical whine?

I'm not saying that it spins faster, but it definitely whines louder with a higher load. All alternators do. Grab a carbon pile load tester and try it.

What makes the high pitched mechanical whine?

I respectfully disagree. Stator whine is well documented and easily reproduced on anything with an alternator. You can identify it easily by changing the load on the charging system. Joe

    engine sputtering in the rain

There have been a lot of great suggestions so far, but I'd start with the spark plug boots, ignition wires and coil boots. Thankfully the conditions are easy to reproduce. Get a spray bottle and get the high voltage ignition system wet. Odds are good that that is where the problem lies. If...

    impressive sliders

If I remember correctly it is a 12mm, 1.25 thread pitch. I did not use anti-seize. Joe

    CO Adjustments

Yes. Narrow band. I would expect it to fluctuate all the time, but it only did it after extended cruise at highway speeds. You had to cruise for 2 or 3 minutes before the O2 started to cycle, and if you interrupted it by going to full throttle, or decel, it would take a minute or two to begin...
