    Bottom Phished by dealer website

Archer, Maybe not in every state, but usually a published "advertisement to sell" is a public offering, a legally binding contract to sell the item at the advertised price to anybody with cash in hand. A local lawyer can confirm or deny, where you are. The usual dodge will be for the seller to...

2012 FJR - Pull Back Handle Bars

Mark, There are several handlebar adapters, which accept any 7/8" (22 mm) handlebars. ABM offers a nice billet adapter, sold in many places. It replaces the top steering crown (triple clamp). You may need re-routing or extensions for cables and hydraulic hoses.

    Seat repair suggestions?

Allnight, If you do find a sewing ace to do the job as a friendship service, take just the seat to them for the repair, so they can do the job comfortably, at home. The stitches should go beyond the rip, maybe half an inch (1 cm) further at each end. Just a thought . . .

    Seat repair suggestions?

Allnight, If you hand the seat (only) to a decent upholstery (or auto upholstery) shop, they can duplicate the covering in a variety of materials, even leather, and I think you will like the price. Get estimates first, of course. Since the original seam has failed, I would expect any repair...

Did I finally kill my FJR?

Henwill, Prolly worth saying - most auto parts stores can load-test your battery for free (provided that they sell batteries there). Remove the battery from the bike (easier to be done with insulating strings or cords, through both of the terminals). On my 2008, a plastic body panel covered...

Can a novice Mechanic remove and service the Driveshaft/Gear Coupling/Final Drive? Constant puddles of drive oil under the drive shaft

SurvivorGuy, The only other cause that I can imagine for a "leak" may be caused by the type of gear oil that you use. Yamaha makes a special gear oil for the FJR Final Drive, specifically to resist the shearing action of the hypoid gears. Other oils may possibly cause foaming, or other...

Can a novice Mechanic remove and service the Driveshaft/Gear Coupling/Final Drive? Constant puddles of drive oil under the drive shaft

SurviverGuy, I am curious about the results you see with the aerosol body powder spray process. Where is the leak, really? Oil should not be coming from the vent, unless the Final Drive was over-filled. You already know how to prevent that mistake. An actual oil leak from the Final Drive is...

Did I finally kill my FJR?

What happens if you take the ignition key out, engage top gear, and push the bike forward? Does the rear wheel turn?

    Advice

Motorcop, Most states have a Small Claims Court. The limit may be around US$ 1000, but that varies. I would get some free (local) legal advice, and see if there are options for you. In many Small Claims Courts, nobody can have an attorney at all, and in any court, you can simply represent...

    Bars adjusted

Garyjaustin, The usual handlebar risers and angle plates are not going to give you that much adjustment. I have seen stacked risers, but I would not recommend it. You may find other remedies, but I believe a conversion to tubular handlebars would be the right fix. Everything on your...

Can a novice Mechanic remove and service the Driveshaft/Gear Coupling/Final Drive? Constant puddles of drive oil under the drive shaft

SurvivorGuy, Before doing anything else, engage first gear and put the bike up on the center stand. Remove the upper (filler) plug from the Final Drive and put an oil catch pan on the floor under the rear drive. Go and do non-bike other stuff for half an hour. When you return, see if any...

    STOLEN overnight in Minneapolis 10/9/22

Clay, Sorry to hear this. Such a loss can be a gut punch. Here's hoping for a good insurance settlement for you. Give them a list of your "upgrades", to increase that settlement deal; it will convince them that the bike was well-maintained, and worth more than the blue book says. Here's...

    2007 FJR1300AE

Torch, If Yamaha has a Canadian phone number (maybe the USA phone number can tell you if so), you will get good humans who can usually sort out such issues. You may have a bike which was imported from another country. Write down the information they give you. For "poor engine performance,"...

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

SwollenRaccoon, I take it you have never read an e-bike/e-motorcycle forum. Reviews of commercial products, DIY creations, innovations, batteries, controllers, hop-up tips, and then they can get really technical. Of course, some people just buy and ride off into the landscape . . . but...

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

Electric. The Lightning Strike, standard model. Fast enough, light enough, cheap enough, aerodynamic, modern, decent range, on-board charger, can use the regular car charging stations, quiet. It's just not easy to vanish, if the Popo can hear you a mile away. Needs no gasoline, no engine...

    STOLEN overnight in Minneapolis 10/9/22

Clay, Can't help from Utah, sorry. That's a hard break. Best wishes. I am curious about how it was stolen. Any local security videos? Was the front end locked? Disk lock? Did they use a trailer or a truck? I would guess that they pushed it some distance, and then put in on a vehicle not...
