    51,003 Miles and first failure

Jim, Can't help with the electricals directly, but as a career electronics tech, I can't tell you how many times I have unplugged and re-connected connectors, fuses, relays, battery cables, et c. and restored the unit to full operation.  Sometimes the unit was half the size of a car, and...

    Bike Wants to Turn Right

Check your tire pressures.  If the tire pressure is too low in the front tire, the FJR will fall into turns.  If the tire pressure is too high in the front tire, the FJR will want to stand up in turns.  At the golden middle between those pressures, the FJR will steer almost by thought control. ...

    Just Joined From Tennessee

There are several ways to deal with hand-numbing handlebar vibes.  Seafoam is a good start.  A TBS or UTBS is very good, too.  You can change the bar end weights, either heavier or lighter, to move the vibes to some RPM value that is not where you normally cruise.  Foam handgrip covers can help...

Rex, Dang, man, you did better than I did, and came up with with a downloadable .PDF to boot!  Good find!   B)

Rex, Well, there is the by-the-book Throttle Body Synchronization, and there is the Unauthorized Throttle Body Synchronization.  The "proper" TBS balances the fueling at idle only.  The UTBS adds steps to balance fueling at higher (road) RPM.  Take a look at both options. Hmm . . . The pages I...

Rex, I would contact the manufacturer directly, for the Power Commander.  It may or may not have the Auto-Tune optional module, which would be good, but I believe the company will help, in any case.  I suggest that you check to see if the throttle cables have a little free play, but not an...

FJR for a Trike?? Say it isn’t so...

Redbird, As a New Guy with a Torque Wrench, you should know that they may need occasional calibration (or an "indicated/real" conversion table) to be trustworthy.  The clickers need to be set at a lower value (typically ~2/3 of the intended value) and clicked at that value several times, before...

FJR for a Trike?? Say it isn’t so...

Redbird, Well, there are trikes, and there are reverse (tadpole) trikes.  There are also tilting tadpole trikes. Give this (9.5 min.) video an honest look.  It could be just what you want for now, or it may start you on a search for more and better. .

ST2 Smart Turn System & DataTool Digital Gear Indicator

Race, If you want to keep and use the STS, you do not have to splice any wires to install it.  The stock turn signal connector can be mated to a DIY adapter harness (simply two mating connectors and some wires) to make the STS installation a plug-and-play event.  No wire splicing is needed, at...

    Ford Ranger 4WD not engaging

Knifemaker, I would still like to have the truck inside someplace warm (60+ degrees F) for the night, and then try it again.  You may be missing some "enable" step, maybe one you did without thinking in the past, so a check of the Owners' Manual might help.  When I got a newer car, I didn't...

    moving

Jim, Here in the Western states, we usually talk about the travel hours between places, rather than miles.  Things will be "two or three hours" up the road, which is easier to handle than the "hundreds" of miles, really.     :coolsmiley02:     Pack your audio gear with all of your tunes...

Need a cheap Mirror even if glass is broke

Ross, A BB is 4.57 mm, so prolly close enough, if you replace all three.  BBs may make it somewhat easier for the mirror to "break" out of the detent position, but if necessary, an extra washer in the stack could stiffen the hold of the BBs in the mirror pivot area. .

Need a cheap Mirror even if glass is broke

If they are 4mm as mentioned, 5/32 inch should be close enough.  4 MM = 0.15747 inch, and 5/32 inch = 0.15625 inch.  Home Depot may have them in stock (worth a phone call or two), or Amazon or eBay will have the 4mm ball bearings.  Honda dealers sell individual ball bearings, but costly in...

Relay arm bearings...they are a pain in the A**, but man, they gotta get done.

WTP07, If you have a Relay Arm in good shape, the cost will only be for the work, not hundred$.  The price goes up (but reasonably) if you will need new bearings, or wish to buy a "spare" Relay arm to be rebuilt, while you still ride.  Then you could just swap out the old one for the new one...

Relay arm bearings...they are a pain in the A**, but man, they gotta get done.

WTP07, There is a rider on another FJR forum who creates grease passages and installs Zerk fittings in the Relay Arm.  All bearings get replaced, if needed, so there is no firm set price; it depends on what is needed.  He does good work, and at a good price.  Renewing the Relay Arm grease using...
