How many draft behind a big truck?

Yep, been there, done that when I was young & stupid. It was the only way my 1963 CA200 Honda 90 could keep up with them. Now I'm older & wiser and have a faster bike & the big trucks are way behind me INSTANTLY....Later,,, De

dead hands, burning buns 06 FJR

What helped me (in order of importance) 1. Release center throttle return spring 2. Don't grasp grip tightly 3. Ride with right wrist slightly raised (5-10 degrees) 4. Install Throttle Rocker to help keep right wrist raised https://www.throttlerocker.com/ Throttle spring release was the 1st...

    Tiered License for Motor Cycles

Tier system-Yes but-here in Georgia it's not the kids killing themselves. The 40 to 55 guys are going down faster that the 16-30 year olds. I can't tell U how many new riders (40-55 year old guys & gals) I've had in classes who already have new big bikes delivered to their garages. Some can't...

    Dropped _(*^@_(&_((^^$#%@$

A few months ago, one of the Techs at H-D of Atlanta told me he did some repairs on an 04 FJR and found the correct paint to match exactly. If U have time U may want to stop by there and ask around for this guy. Seemed to know what he was talking about. There are plenty of pros in our Hotlanta...

To Warm Up or Not to Warm Up

Slapnpop, Lets get my title correct if U please, as I am a MMI Certified Technical Person. On the other hand sir, U are correct in calling me "Lazy" but I prefer to think of myself as just being efficient. Back to the Warm Up discussion. So far in this thread there have been 2 professional...

    Lubrication Points - Regular Maintenance

Radman, I couldn't agree with U more that there shouldn't have been a problem, especially with a shoulder bolt (that should have the correct shoulder length when bottomed out) and wave washers to keep the shifter arm sleeve from ratteling about. Fact is that mine binded when the shoulder bolt...

    Lubrication Points - Regular Maintenance

Here's mine that I did a few years ago-have pixs if needed....Later,,, De  Lessons learned from rear linkage lube. My ’04 FJR1300 is about 1 year old and has 9000 mi on it and I have ridden thru many rainstorms here in the Hotlanta area. After reading the many horror stories of...

Re-hanging entire stock exhaust 2004 FJR

While you have the exaust system off, this would be a good time to remount the center stand bracket assy. To remove & lube all the suspension leavers, swing arms, dog bones, etc. U have to remove the centerstand assy and that's a bitch with the exaust system on. Here's part of a write up I did...

What twowheelnut said and after loosening both sides torque the left side first like the FSM says. Not all sliders come with this info. It's important...Later,,, De

    Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control installation

Thanks Gordon. This is really a nice write up & must have taken U some time. Nothing like not having to reinvent the wheel. I'll have this along with my FJR Tech article w/me when I start mine any day now. I have all the parts ready except the controler bracket. I'm thinking of making a dual...

Does the AE bang into 1st gear when sitting still?

Constant Mesh With all gear on & on bike, ready to ride, try starting it in neutral w/clutch squeezed & instantly (after it starts) put it into 1st gear & ride off. At least mine doesn't jerk this way...Later,,,De :)

    Dropped Her, Again!

<_< Sorry about the drop but "IT" happens. Here's what I do with all my bikes to lessen the chance of a drop. 1. Park it in 1st gear on the side stand. 2. Load bike & insert key in key hole. 3. Put on all gear & plug in "electrics" if U have them. They won't drain the battery that...

    sniping

Yes I have bought a few things on Ebay but I'm not a big user. On a Acsot VT500FT board there is a post about sniping on Ebay & I had no idea what that is. Being a snoopeing type of guy, I went to Ebay and did a search for "sniping". I guess I really do need to get out more. Do U guys snipe ? I...

    FJR1300 Middle Drive Failure

WoW, this threads been around the world. Looks like a simple case of Fretting Corrosion (dissimilar metals-heat treat differences, etc) to me. Looks like the gear was installed on the shaft with out proper lube (to keep out air out between the parts) and then bolted down tightly. Corrosive air...

    Frame Sliders

Wild Hair did it for me when I got my new '04. Whever U get um, make sure that U torque the LEFT SIDE mounting bolts first as the FSM says. It's important. The other way and U can get vibes. Later,,, De :)

    Wheel Weight Double Stickey Tape

Thanks Guys, especially to Toe for his inovative approach. Being the efficient (read lazy) guy that I am, I'm always for killing 2 birds w/one stone. Hmmm, wonder if U can substitute Diet Coce for the Vodka as I just turned 69 & am still too young for the hard stuff. Later,,, De :)
