My Nephew Has Been Bitten By The Bug...

^^THIS^^ I never met a mom who wanted their baby to get their first "murdercycle". Nephew is very lucky to have you as an example and resource. Maybe talk to sis first and let her know you'll help to advise and stress safety. MSF is great.CAJW beat me to it with the dirt bike suggestion...

    Weird deer incident

Had my own weird deer incident day before yesterday. As I turned right out of my neighborhood I spied a jogger running down the sidewalk at the far side of the road. 30 feet behind him was a doe trotting along with him. I rolled along slowly looking at this when the guy stopped and said "What?"...

    Another BMW Final Drive Failure

My wife and I are proud owners of a BMW 335i, same basic car as the 328i. We love it. That said, this vehicle has been in the shop more than all the cars I've owned put together and I've owned 35 or so cars. The aftermarket warranty has saved my ass. This car has convinced me I can't afford to...

    Laam seats

+10 for Seth Laam! Had both seats done in leather over a year ago. Seat is beautiful, I get compliments on it frequently. Can't make a comparison to a Russell, never sat on one. First time I did 8 hours on it I remember thinking I'd forgotten about the seat. It wasn't reminding me of its...

New Owner - Need Electrical Advice

I recently installed the Audiovox CC on my '05 ABS. I spent a lot of time searching and reading everything I could find on the subject. If I had non ABS I would have mounted the module under the right sidecover. Alas, that space is fully occupied by the ABS module. Tool tray is where it went...

New Owner - Need Electrical Advice

Check out https://roadstercycle.com/ He makes a custom fused wiring harness for our FJR's that bypasses the circuitous route the stock harness takes from the RR and takes it straight to the battery. Harness is made with correct plug for the RR, an inline circuit breaker and terminals for...

What did you do to your FJR today?

I sure like my MV, much better than the Heli's that were on it. Didn't do this today but about a week ago. Due to a pinched nerve in my neck C5-6, which causes pain tipping my head back, I piggybacked the Heli risers on the MV plate. I was able to do this because the Spiegler brake lines I...

    The Fark-ling Has Begun

I was attempting humor also. A bit of a smartass I am ;) If you were closer I'd give you an old signal visor to cut up.

    The Fark-ling Has Begun

Sorry, but you did ask where I got the material. Just a scrap from work. No need to shake your tiny finger at me.

ABS Broken - Are all units the same?

Here's a great little tutorial on testing ABS provided by our very own, almost famous, Ionbeam. https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=136000&st=0&p=834610&&do=findComment&comment=834610

    The Fark-ling Has Begun

I made it. Used a scrap traffic signal visor from a 3-M programmable head. Flat aluminum about 1/16 inch thick. Dimensions here https://www.fjrowners.com/forum/messages/6/10176.html?1063970531

    The Fark-ling Has Begun

Nice mods RZR. I've done the heat blanket and Cromeit mods, they do make a difference. I also have the Griptech Snakeskins. All futere bikes will have these. Especially helpful during braking. Glad to see another Gen1 owner showing the ol' girl a little love. Carry on, sir!

Seattle to Denver - route suggestions?

Thanks, John. Looks like if I were doing 84 and 15, ID21 could prove to be an interesting detour. Thanks :)

Seattle to Denver - route suggestions?

Thanks Iggy! Barring snow, this looks like a great first day. Rich, since the final destination of the Colo 1000 is in Rocky Mountain National Park your suggestion could prove useful for the return trip. H-B, good to know about 80 mph zones on 15. Hi Ty! I have a best pal lives in Denver area...

Seattle to Denver - route suggestions?

Got a trip coming up in a few weeks to Denver area and back with a little Iron Butt action in between - Colorado 1000. I've driven to Denver on the I90 slab, don't want to that again. Wyoming is one long, boring ride on the slab. Was thinking of heading toward Yakima and down through Oregon. I...

    Brake Line Replacement

Do you have ABS? Spieglers could be pretty spendy for ABS, I'm thinking in the $500 range, and quite a little project. DAMHIKT. No ABS, piece of cake. After 10 years I'd definitely change the lines, but that's just me. Rubber lines on cars last a long time but aren't exposed to UV like m/c...

    PNW Spring Tech Meet #12

Hey guys, I just remembered I was talking to one of you about LED lighting and I mentioned I had a dimmer from LEDRider I'd give you if you wanted/needed it. I just can't remember who I was talking to :( It's unused, I just decided to go with a Skene controller. Let me know if you still want...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Whilst riding to the PNW tech meet yesterday, a certain "Pieman" noted that he could hear my Holeshot exhaust. Not too surprising except he was leading the pack, I was three bikes back. I know they bark a bit but I didn't realize they were that loud! I purchased the Holeshot baffles when I...

TechSpec Snake Pads for Side Cases

Installed mine Friday afternoon. Left them outside to warm up, had to bring 'em back in, dry ,em off and heat 'em up with a heat gun. Yay PNW!! They really look great. Attended the PNW tech meet yesterday. Guys were taking photos of 'em. I suspect Tech Spec is going to be cranking out a few...
