    NEW '08 owner

First, congrats on the new bike! :clapping: Second, no sliders on my '07 (yet). Just keep in mind if you go down, sliders help, but even with sliders you'll still be buying (or fixing) plastic and other parts. Main purpose is to protect the "frame" and most any sliders (not TOG's!), will...

    Decision Pending

Ah, the call of the wild, eh? Yeah, I'm a bit older than you (55) and I hear it too from time to time. I'd say, unless you're planning on being permanently gone, you just need more balance in your life. Grab the closest calendar and create a long string of rides, at every open opportunity...

Suggestions for a response to Yamaha

I'd send a strongly worded letter to your Congressman! Just kidding... and to tell you the truth that bothers me some parts aren't available for a bike I just laid down over $12K for. Not a comfortable feeling to be sure. Short of fighting Cityhall, you're in a no-win situation. But perhaps...

    I got christened today

Another toll booth kiss. That sucks. I got rear ended recently in stopped traffic. The cager claimed he was adjusting his electric seat as he was moving along and wasn't able to brake. It's scary to think how stupid some drivers are, and they're around us all the time. Hyperlights are great...

    Upgrade to '08?

If the heat on your '04 doesn't bother you (I assume you must live in Alaska or along the Canadian boarder?), and you don't particular like spending money... just for the heck of it, I'd say keep your '04. The only reason I upgraded from a '05 to an '07 was the heat issue. If it wasn't for...

    FJR- A real Bike

Compared to the typical HD, 90% of motorcycle's on the road would feel like a F-15. But it's all relative. If you want to ride a real F-15, try pinning the right grip on a Hayabusa. I guarantee your FJR will feel mild in comparison. Both are great machines. :D

    08 shifting ease?

My '05 had, and my '07A has, the standard typical shift clunk. It really isn't that big of a deal, but it would be interesting to know if Yam really did make the '08 shifting smoother, and if they did, could the mod be applied to the older models? Come on Yamaha... throw us older model owners...

    2007 Bag Liners

In this day and age of instant communications, it's amazing to me a dealer would try a trick like; just to save a few bucks. The word gets out quick and future sales always suffer. I know a lot of people that won't step foot in one of my local dealerships, including me. Did they sell me an...

    New Tires and Rain

Oh hell, let it rain. Take the bull by the horns! Experience that new beast before you leave the dealership's parking lot. 8500 rpm, lean over the tank, drop the clutch (please say it ain't an AE!), light up the rear tire, and with feet on the pegs and power slide that thing through a couple...

Drove Home a NEW FJR today from the Long Beach Motorcycle Show

Ok, ok... :help: I got the real thing sitting in my garage, but I need one of those little models! Where did you get it? SR-71

FJR Review in Super Bike Magazine

"I know that the whole subject of motorcycle comparos gets people all worked up,..." And yet the speak continues... :dntknw: 1 million riders = 1 million different opinions :D

    What color is this?

What color? It's RED! :D Just kidding. Actually I think it's a blend of red and orange, and a bit of yellow mixed in. Definitely looks better with silver wheels, than black. Sharp. Two other colors that I'd like to see on a FJR ; metallic orange (with a black frame) and candy apple red...

    Please help me decide.....

Ok! :clapping: 20+ replies. 20+ opinions? :clapping: great.... I'm guessing after reading all these responses, you're more confused than before you wrote your posting. Most people tend to recommend the bike they bought. Who knows, perhaps it's a way for people to justify their...

Sold FJR, New BMW in the Stable

After riding motocross bikes for many years, I have a hard time picturing that bike in a dirt environment, but if it works, go for it! Congrats!

    Looking at an 04 FJR

Listen for any engine ticks. Test ride to see if heat heat is acceptable to you. Ask for any maintenance records (Fluid changes; engine, differential? Driveshaft splines ever greased?) Farkled up? SR-71

    Scare today

Splitting lanes. Anyone besides me see this as an accident waiting to happen? I stay continuously amazed splitting traffic is legal in some states. Glad you made it, and here's to hoping your luck continues! :drinks:

2 more wheels in the Garage

That's a nice old ride, and definitely a good ride to start out with. It sure is refreshing to see a kid NOT starting out with a crotch rocket. Unfortunately, that happens all too often and sometimes there's a heavy price to pay. A couple of years ago I witnessed a parent buying their...

How big a Turkey will an FJR sidecase hold?

Not sure about Turkey's, but I carried a large watermelon in my OEM Yam rear box once. If I knew there'd be a contest, I would have weighed the darn thing! :D So far, you have the record! :clapping:

    Considering a KTM 450EXC

DB - Wanted to ask. When looking at the KTM's, did you consider the KTM 530EXC? I noticed the 450 and 530 are about the weight and approximately the same price; ~60cc different. SR-71
