I have an 07' and got the bag liners, both of them were in a large plastic bag with parts that fill in the holes if the side bags were not installed.

Probably ought to check if they were included too.

I just spoke to "Jim" at Yamaha customer service and he told me that bag liners DO NOT and have never came with the FJR and that they are only offered as an accessory. I told him about the forum and that I had 22 responses from FJR owners who say that the DO come with the bike, and that NO ONE had to pay for them...except me, of course. He just said that he is sorry, but that is their policy and if an individual dealer decides to include the bag liners, that is their option.

Needless to say, I'm pissed off about the whole situation. :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

I would reach thru the phone and wring Jim's little chicken neck. :glare: :glare:

That's a surprise. Like everyone else in this thread, my 07 came with the liners at no extra charge. As hard as the dealer tried to sell me on the service plan and theft prevention system I'm surprised he'd throw in a genuine accessory for free. Very, very, strange.

I called Yamaha CS last year (probably in August) to ask the same question before heading to Seattle to pick up my '06. It took some time for them to find a "specialist" but they finally came back to me with a "yes, they are included." It didn't end up being an issue as the dealer left them in the saddlebags but you might want to try calling Cypress a few more times anyway. Be sure to write down names and extensions.

Good luck,

FjrVfr

EDIT: Be sure to mention this fine institution in the Dealer & Vendor Feedback Forum...

ASk to speak with his super. I have never seen so many generous dealers.

This is obviously incorrect. :glare:

Well.... he is likely just looking at the web pages, and in fact, there is no mention anywhere on Yamaha's web pages for the FJR that the bag liners are included with the bike.

For either the 2008 or the 2007 model.

However...... "Jim" at Yamaha Customer Service is as ****** up as a soup sandwich here. And your dealer is a thief, apparently.

The bag liners ARE INCLUDED WITH THE HARD BAGS, and have been every year the bike has been sold here in the USA. Canadians get boned out of the deal because... well... they're Canadian. :D (j/k, my Canuk 'bros!)

I have assembled throngs of FJR's over the years at Sunnyside/Desert Valley Powersports, and every year, including this year, WITHOUT FAIL, the bag liners are included inside the hard bags. Strangely, as they come out of the box, both bag liners are stashed in ONE hard bag - typically, the right hard bag (though not always). More than once, a customer will come pick up their new FJR, ride it home, open up the left hard bag, see no liners, and call the store back up to ask about them. They are told to "look in the other hard bag". 'Lo and behold, both bag liners are in the *other* hard bag they didn't check, still in their plastic wrapper.

So what's going on here? Could be any number of things. Most likely, the dealer you bought the bike from, (or rather, the tech assembling the bike, or whatever) took them out of the hard bag for whatever reason.

You were supposed to have received them.

You got boned.

"Jim" at Yammy Customer Service is certainly not aiding your cause here by posting mis-information. I really get discouraged when I read stories like this, because all it does is demonstrate ineptitude (or, more likely, poor/insufficient training) by Cypress. Which is never a good thing.

Exactly how my 07FJR came from my Indiana dealer.

Jason

You should also have gotten a lock mechanism that you can place in the Yamaha Topbox so that all your hard cases are keyed the same. When I got my 07 the bags, lock and spacers to fill the holes in the sidecase mounting points were all in one bag.

I bet there are one or two Yamaha dealers on the board that could give a straight answer to this question.

So....besides being boned...does he have to take it and like it...or does he get satisfaction from the bonehead dealer?

Time to get the 10 foot poles out for that dealer...

I got my extra lock and have already installed it in my topcase.

I also got my little plastic covers for when the saddle bags are not installed.

I will call again tomorrow and ask to speak to Jimmy's supervisor. I will get my damn bag liners!

Thanks everybody.

My 07 came with them also... Sounds like you should report this dealership to Yamma Mamma if you don't get satisfaction with the super.

BTW everybody, that was Motions Yamaha in Marietta, GA (just outside Atlanta)...just in case you wanted to know.

Here is their web site: https://www.motionslive.com/

If you live near Atlanta, you may want to find another dealer.

Mr Twisty I don't know who that dude is that told you the FJR has never come with bag liners, but lets just say he's full of ****! I have a (not that this is going to help your cause) a 2005 model year sales book and inside it specifically says the bag liners are included (standard equipment). Too bad someone who watches and works for Yamaha doesn't read this forum doesn't see something like this and act on your behalf (boy that would really look great on Yamaha's behalf if something like that were to happen). I would love to think this over-site by the selling stealer where you got your bike from cost these ass-holes more than the $40.00 or $50.00 bucks profit they would make by selling the soft bags you should have been supplied with. Lets hope some of the fine Brothers and Sisters who own these bikes and live in your area band together and don't do business with this stealership (if it is indeed true Yamaha doesn't include the soft bags anymore).

I wish you good luck. I just wish I could have been more help.

I've owned 3 FJR's, all came with the bag liners as standard equiptment. In the old days it even said so on the web site. On my '04 the side cases came seperately several weeks behind the bike. Once again, liners included. You, as has been well pointed out here, are getting screwed. Twice. First by the dealer, and second by "Jimbo" who obviously is clueless in regards to the history of the FJR. Good luck to you, I wouldn't stop untill it was made right.

Bag liners are included with hard cases period. You shouid ask Jim how he knows his information and if he is extremely sure of what he speaks. If he answers yes, then bet him a $100. Either way you win!

In this day and age of instant communications, it's amazing to me a dealer would try a trick like; just to save a few bucks. The word gets out quick and future sales always suffer. I know a lot of people that won't step foot in one of my local dealerships, including me. Did they sell me an '05? Yep, but I got ripped. Did they sell me my '07? NOT HARDLY! Lost sales! :D By the way, this was the same dealership that told me to make sure I lubed my "chain" at regular intervals... yeah, on my FJR. For the fun of it, I acted naive and asked the sales person where the chain lube goes. That was a true Kodak moment! :D

Anyway, since then I've put my ear to the ground and found a knowledgeable, honest dealer.

I'm 100% sure the soft bags come with the hard luggage because [for some crazy reason] my hard cases where delivered late on my '05 (after I took delivery of the bike), and I had them ship the luggage to my house. Inside the boxes were both the hard cases and soft bags! Same on my '07.

I hope you hound your dealer into giving you your soft bags - then go find a better dealership the next time around. Go get 'em!
