    Edit: O'Vales pictures are GONE!

Yep. I never met the guy but when the "remember Andrew" posts hit I went searching and saw the (bad) news that the photobucket account had expired. I was really sorry since I was looking forward to viewing his pictures. He got such acclaim from this group I know they would have been great.

    seat ladder

My ladder wasn't quiet as long as yours but I did not like the stock seat, used a sheep skin adn that helped, went with the Spencer and that helped a little, then also used a beaded seat cover on the spencer. That was the best for me. I had the highway pegs but by the time I got them on I was...

    Bags vs Key

too late to help probably but when I picked my bike up from D&H they advised to hold down the luggage "flap" when locking or unlocking to reduce stress on the key. Same thing on the gas cap. Whenever turning the key, other than ignition, hold the locking mechanism down before turning the key...

    Rare Ride in November

Nice pictures and glad you got to ride! I was up that way this summer. Balltown overlook is pretty cool. Made it up to Winona, MN (?) then over to WI for a couple of days. Paid the price riding home across IA to I-35 in heavy rain. Nice area, especially compared to KS!

    sighting: 11/01/09

I'm getting my stock seat worked over by a local shop. I picked up the rough draft on Thursday and today was the first chance I had to take it out for 2-3 hours to test it out. From the KS side I took I-470 to US50 to Warrensburg, MO then north to Concordia, MO then back home via I-70. I had...

    California Dreaming

thanks for posting, that was fun. A slight tweak to the left mirror and we'd have a picture in picture of the scenery out the back. It was there some but would have been interesting to do that, especially if there were riders behind you. Of course it might render your left mirror unusable for...

    Here's mine, lets see yours.

Daughter #1 went to Bethel University for four years and now lives/works in STP. We enjoy both cities' skylines whenever we are up that way for a visit. I'd show you mine but I have to take pictures first and that may not be happening. Yours were great. Thanks for sharing!

I really should wander out to the garage and look at my locks BUT, can you fab something for the bar and buy bolts?

    Good Bye, Missouri... Hello Arizona

I guess he might also miss Mexican Villa and springfield style cashew chicken! The ozarks are beautiful, too.

    Arkansas ride planning help?

not meant to be a hijack but for trip planning purposes and not making any judgments political or otherwise: isn't Russellville in a dry county?

    Old Wild Bill highway pegs

Yes, I do. I have a set that I bought from a forum member, used for a ride, added a longer bolt and chrome spacer, used for a second ride, then took off the chrome spacer and added a 45 degree offset bracket to kick them out farther and pivot them down a bit lower. Used them that way for a...

Commuter Chronicles, Volume I, No. 3

Good post! I love thoughtful, analytical posts, or conversations, like this. You are searching for the differences and maybe you have found one in ES. I'm a range guy....ranges of ES, ranges of risk, etc. I think for me there is also a range of adrennelin junkiness, need for speed, etc. I...

    Harbor Freight Dolly

+1 have had mine for 6 months now. I did the same with the plywood under the side stand to make it more verticle. Additionally, I bolted a piece of angle iron perpendicular to the long rail and have eye bolts on each end. from these I strap the driver's pegs for more stability when rolling...

I had such a nice ride today ...

that truly sucks. but I'm glad you kept upright and didn't sustain physical damage to your person! your note about the time of day struck a cord. this summer, 7/3/09 to be precise, I had a near miss several miles south of the Mindoro Cut in WI. The time of day? Right about 12:30 PM! This...

    4 Inches Enough?

There was a forum member that had a V-stream that he allowed to circulate around for people to try. It might still be out there. Reason I say that is the V-stream is 4" taller than the stock on my '08. I tried the V-stream and liked the quieter ride. I take it up about 2" less than its max...

    First 300+ Mile Ride

could be that when the bars were adjusted they were set back AND angled differently. I think that was possible on the '06. It is possible on my '08. You might want to reset them to the stock postion and angle and see how that feels. I use grip puppies and a $10 throttle rocker so I have a...

What's the red switch on the right grip for?

yep, I used to, too. But then I got into the habit of leaving the bike in first and using the kickstand to shut off the bike. This way I'm less likely to "forget" to put down the sidestand for parking.
