New 2008 Right Saddle Bag In The Box!

Hey Guys, If any of you have a 2008 FJR - and you need a right side hard-saddle bag - I've got one for you. If you buy it from Yamaha - they will rip you off for $649.00 (really!). Well, I got ripped off - but need to unload mine. First $300 takes it. Just unscrew your lock, put it on - and...

    "Therapy" Ride

I always read on this forum about the leather butt folks who routinely do 500 to 3,000 miles per ride (or more!). Frankly, I'm jealous. So I ditched work on Thursday and just did my personal "biggest" ride of 467 miles in a single day (yes, I know - someday I'll grow up)... but I've found that I...

2008 FJR - shifting, gas mileage after break in

My 08A (new in July) - just turned 6900 miles - bar buzz is greatly reduced when moving the handlebars to the #3 position (closest to you). I also have grip puppies - which help. But, by far, the biggest thing that helped was changing the front suspension settings. The factory settings are at...

    Fork setting

WOW! I mean holy crap, batman. I just changed from totally stock to 8-8-2 and soft-8 and boy, this feels like a totally new bike! It's still a little rough on the bumps - but the slab riding is actually a bit more smooth (!). I'm toying with the settings now, changing a click or two here and...

    FJRTom's Farkled 2008

Us FNG's are not worth of the farkles! Love the moto lights... will have to see if I'm extra good at Christmas... Seriously, nice ride, man!

    loose screws

+! on the bungies. I pulled over for a rest on a 300+ mile ride - about 1/2 way through - turned the key and it spun. Luckily - the screws were still there. I just finger - tight + bungie and it held until I got home. Took the bags into dealer (minus one screw on the left side) and they said...

    FNG looking at FJR's

+1 on cyclebabble! Being a FNG myself - here's a short list: 1) The Honda is a boring pig of a ride - buy a mini van instead 2) Once you have the FJR (and you're gonna' love it!) - Make sure the dealer put loctite on the saddle bag lock screws 3) Get sliders 4) Adjust your suspension -...

2008 FJR W/ PC III fixed the stall

I've got the same problem - but my idle is low. I'll start there. It seems to be a problem only when coming from a stop, or racing the throttle. I've never experienced anything bad when actually riding.

    fjr custom paint jobs

You should cross-post those photos on the other thread about the 09 - and announce it as the new 10 model. It would make some people sleep easier...

    2009 FJR1300 info released!

My dirty 08 is the new 09 - and it looks like black IS the new white. I'm not really bothered by the color - I'm getting used to "black" and it's not so bad - but I just hope that the FJR isn't the new ST1300 in terms of what Yam does (or doesn't) do to update it. I'm hopeful that by the time...

    loose screws

I wound up taking mine back to the dealer - because the screw is a "safety torx" - and when I examined my other bag - one of the screws was already gone. My dealer was nice about it - and apologized - fixed on the spot.

    loose screws

+1 on the bag lock screw problem! I have a new 08 (bought in July) - and I came home tonight to find the screws completely out as well! Off to get some locktite and torx tool kit... that kind of crap just shouldn't happen on a new bike. It's not that big of a deal - but still, it's a...

    Riding with kids

I have boy/girl twins who just turned 8. I took them on their first ride on Sunday. First in the neighborhood to get their bearings, make sure they got accustomed to the noise and vibration - never out of 2nd. Then asked if they were comfortable enough to go a little farther. Next, went about...

    25-30 MPH FJR crash

28MPH? Wow - that's a pretty good clip. Glad you guys are OK!
  18. Back In The Saddle

Here's one that should make you all nod knowingly!

It regularly gets 95+ here in So Cal. But I lived in Bakersfield also for 10 years (that's why they call it "Bako"). The heat is OK for me for about four hours max. That's with the windscreen all the way down. It's really annoying when you're in that heat and stuck behind cage drivers with no...
