    Any discount Held vendors?

Thanks guys. I'll check out your tips. Gloves are a funny thing. I'll look at others but you just get used to something and everything else feels wrong. I think my all-time favs were BMW "Indian Summer" gloves, leather and Goretex three-season design (Goretex gauntlet totally rocked). Can't...

    Any discount Held vendors?

My Held Profi gloves are near the end of their life. Some of my 'roo skin is cracking open after about three years. My fault, hard life. And I'm a fool for not buying a set at half-off when New Enough dumped their remaining stock last year. Anyway, while I am looking for left-overs in size...

    Scuba Divers

PADI certified here. Short story -- I went through the entire NAUI program but couldn't finish the boat dive requirement due to bad weather (did a couple of beach dives okay). Fortunately my buddy was a PADI dive master so I took the PADI written tests on the way out to sea for a three-day...

    Starcom 1 Advance or Autocom

Bump. Jeff let us know what you think of the whole set-up after you use it a few times. I got the AutoCom but I was THIS close to choosing the Starcom instead (I was swayed by a buddy happy with his AutoCom). It can take a couple of trips to find and work all the bugs out.

    New Spyder - Snowmobile/Waverunner on 3 wheels

For me the problem with the T-Rex at $40K is, why not step up to an Ariel Atom if I want a toy-machine? If this new machine comes in at $15K, as the website says, then it'll deserve a hard look.

Jumped from the Honda ST1300 to the FJR ?

I'd say if you wear riding pants then don't even worry about the '05 FJR's heat. It is a non-issue unless I only wear jeans (just about never). My buddy's ST is hotter-to-the-rider (and hotter by thermocouple) and seriously roasts one leg (he added wind deflectors just to cool this area). I...

Kenwood flat blade antenna for your Autocom..

How you run a test yet to see how the range compares to an unmolested TK3101 original whip antenna? We lay ours down in tank bags so we figure our range is badly compromised.

Another Gun tot'en question for the LEO's

You can also fit a hard or soft tote nicely in a duffel bag, depending on length. I transported my shotgun that way before, just to not freak the neighbors.

    Custom molded earplugs

Like everyone else said, they should be comfy. Mine (another Now Hear This set) are. There is a very short break-in period where they loosen up just a tiny bit. By the way, for cheaper plain plugs try the on-site vendors at gun shows. I got my last plain plugs at a local gun show for $35...

    clear Aluminum

Might shatter too easily from a rock (very stiff material). And THEN wouldn't you be crying? Otherwise sounds like awesome stuff.

New or Used - Los Angeles area dealers

Escape, how did you figure MSRP? Yamaha site has MSRP for the '07 AE listed as $15,599. Our sales tax is something like 8.25% (depends on county) and there are some stiff DMV fees (around 1.5% IIRC). That makes his OTD price somewhere over $1500 off MSRP?

    Powerlet Rearset Install

I recall looking at photographs in the instructions? IIRC, looping there just means not stretching them tight at the battery, leave some strain relief. As far as the rubber covers, I recall staring at the path and it sort of made sense at the time, there is an opening in the framework under...

Looking for a good dielectric sealer....

I've had good luck with Goop (Marine type) for waterproof 'caulking' but I never touched it to exposed copper either.

New or Used - Los Angeles area dealers

+1 for LA Yamaha (LA Cycle Sports). In 2005 they were the only dealership that gave me any MSRP discount. No hassle experience and they came within $10 of D&H's Y.E.S. policy cost. Lots of people elsewhere got better deals but my '05 ABS with full Y.E.S. was about $14.0K out the door. All my...

    Where lane sharing is legal

In twisties I always wave faster bikes by, holding a right-side line as soon as I notice them. On highways I consider lane-sharing to pass another bike extremely rude. There are multiple lanes for a reason. use them.

    Cold Day in Sth CA

Yep, we So Cal'ers are especially wusses but we're "can ride 365 days a year" wusses! I can still remember having to winterize my bikes when I put them away for a season, living in upstate NY. That sucked. I'd rather gripe about nippy 60 degree riding weather and a 1/8" of rain while you guys...

    Autocom output quality

+1 on positioning sensitivity. It makes a noticeable difference if you are 1/4" off on speaker placement. I agree that's a strange directionality thing and a pain to get just right. I wear custom silicone plugs and I hear my AutoCom fine through them, even with our FJR wind noise. Music...

    Rx riding sunglasses...

Sounds like a good price. My Wiley-X SG-1's were at least double that price. +1 on avoiding polarized riding lenses.

    Birthday Present from a Leo

Anecdotal evidence feeds the attorney craze. Many of us know people who got out of or otherwise reduced the severity of tickets. Sure, many of the tactics can be employed by plain citizens (see ticket assassin). You guys, on the other side of the thin blue line, don't carry a lot of weight on...

    Any gamers here?

I guess I should have said liquid cooling because you're right, water is not good for electronics. Did you see the experiment where some site or magazine made a sealed case filled with vegetable oil? IIRC, it ran cool & okay.
