    BT023GT front cupping

I have the 023GT both front and back. I run lower pressure in the front 32 psi when solo and 36 when 2 up. The front shows no sign of cupping after 5000 km. The rear on the other hand is a basket case. The rear edge is raised significantly. I attribute that to suspension settings i.e. rebound...

    Club Racing

I'm with you brother. I've been doing track days for 12 years now. I'm now 54 and plan on doing them for as long as possible as well. The feeling is like no other. I have the best of both worlds, a FJR and a VTR. Yes put it in your bucket list. Start at the level you are comfortable with and go...

Race Tech Fork Spring Install - Squeaks

I would have to agree that you have too much rebound dampening.

What side of the lane do you ride in?

Greg, You should always ride on the left hand side of the road and don't be moving to the right when cars come by. That doesn't make any sense. When on a 4 lane, once again ride on the left when in the far right lane and ride on the right side of the lane when in the left lane. This way the...

PR2's and just about everything else sold out?!

Bungie, I bought a rear Bridgestone 023 GT tire from Petes Superbike and put on over 3000 km of 2up riding with gear and so far so good. I had them in 5 days. No idea how long they will last but I expect they will do well based on the wear so far. They handled very well. I did an off ramp...

Take Off... To The Great White North!

    Ride around the Great Lakes

All border crossing delays will be different depending on the time of day. I just got back today from a trip around Lake Superior and the border crossing time was not long, roughly 15 minutes at every stop. I don't care what side you are coming from, all border crossings are the same. They all...

    Throttle Return Spring

I unwound the spring on my 06 and couldn't be more happy. In fact the spring wasn't touching the tab that holds it and it still had sufficient tension to return on its own. Prior to doing this mod, I removed the grip and dripped oil down the cables and worked them back and forth to lubricate...

How to put the Yamaha touring trunk to good use

FTFJR13 Nice job Eric. I didn't even know this was an issue with the top case. I will be doing my first long ride around Lake Superior and this will be a most do mod. I have the bungee net hanging in my garage doing nothing. All I need is the hooks. Cheers,

    New grips....

As weird as this may sound, spray the inside of the grips with WD40 and slip them on. Leave them for a day and your good to go. They will not come off. Tested over and over again for years. No nasty glues or hair spray. If in doubt, try it on a set of grips and try and twist them off the next day.

    RaceTech bound

Interesting to read your remarks re the Superhawk/Firestorm. Didn't think any other FJR rider had one besides me. I did the Race Tech change over early on when the front end bottomed out and almost kick me off the bike mid corner with guard rails on both sides of the road. I plan on doing the...

Stock is to small and puppies are to big

I find the standard grips small as well. This past weekend I came across another FJR and he had used bicycle bar wraps. I've used it on my own bicycle. They looked good and are simple to install and removed. The more you stretch them when installing, the thinner they get. You can also control...

    Ohlins Rear Shock

Many people misunderstand the preload adjustment on bikes. It does not change the spring rate or ride quality per say. All it does is remove our add sag. You want to have approximately 25mm of sag when fully loaded. Not enough sag will allow the shock to top out and too much sag will allow the...

how safe is it to ride in Mexico?

The company I work for purchased a Mexican company and I've been to Mexico 4 times in the last 6 months for 2 week stints each time. I just got back yesterday from the most recent trip. All but 1 trip started in Chihuahua. The other was in the Zacatecas area and up to 350 km westwards. The last...

    New FJR rider tips?

There is a lot of good riding tips here for all. The one that stuck with me and has saved my bacon more than once (useful in cars also) is too look where you want to go and not in front of your tire and to drive in your own lane. So many people don't. Don't ride in the gutter lane always off the...

    I had to laugh. . .

Get a pair of cycling shorts. You can ride for a long time in them. Don't forget to wash them after every ride otherwise your puppies will hate you.

    Fork Inner Tube Removal Problem

I'm a proud new owner of a 2006 FJR with 51,000KM (30,000 miles). The fork seals were badly leaking and decided to change them out. The problem I'm having is getting the inner tube off on one of the forks. The first one came off without much difficulty however, the lower inner tube bushing...
