    Nailed

Yep, 3 amp fuse...should have checked the rating on the cigarette lighter & read the box prior to use. The compressor needs a 15 amp fuse. So, lesson learned there.

    Nailed

I have a small compressor, but for some reason it worked for a second and then quit. I keep a small bike pump with me, and that is what I used to fill the tire the second time around. I guess that if I pumped long enough, I probably could have made it to 40psi, but in the 100 degree heat, I was...

Looks a little rough around the edges, kinda like my rim.

    Nailed

2 flats in the same week. Rear tire both times. The 1st was a 16d nail. As I was sitting on the side of the freeway, with cars scimming my rear, I pull this thing out that looks like a railroad spike. The hole was huge. I could not beleave how big this nail was. I have a sticky string kit...

    Fuel Efficiency

Read about your ordeal under the other post........sucks. As with everythingt could have been worse. Imagine hitting one of those beasts that are on the sign in my avatar  .....we have bears all over up here, fortunately I have not seen any while riding. But they have broken into my...

    Fuel Efficiency

    dV = -U dM(t)/(M(t) +dM(t)) = Tall windsheild up, 43 mpg @ 80-85mph U dM(t)/(M(t) +dM(t)) = Tall windsheild down, 48 mpg @ 80-85mph Vfinal = V0 + U ln( FJR Mrocket+fuel / Mrocket ) = really fast no matter what position.............simple rocket science. But it has to be Cobalt Blue (the...

    Fuel Efficiency

I have the Cal Sci tall windsheild and found that my over all average went down to about 39-42 MPG. This is running at about 80-85 mph over about 180 mile range everyday (90 each way to/from work). I cut my stock sheild down a while back and usually put that on when it gets hot. I noticed...

    steering lock bolts

Heli HRT076-02 install This is what I was looking for, I was just looking under the wrong thing. I'm not replacing my clamp, but it sure does have good pics on what to do with the ignition/sterring lock. This says it all and will help greatly, Thx

    steering lock bolts

Do you know where this is this found in the service manual? I like to read and look things over before I start breaking, drilling, screwing (up).....throwing, cussing......etc

    steering lock bolts

I have searched, with neg results. A very simple question before I break something. I want to pull my ignition/steering lock out for repair, but was told that the bolts are BREAK AWAY bolts. They do not appear to be very durable. Can I just take them out, or is there something special, with...

2007 Altitude Surging Problem - Members Wanted

As of today, my 06 is in the shop again for this problem. I ride daily from 5700-300 (from beautiful mountains to lovely downtown LA, Ca). On my way to work (downhill), my bike surges in the same area daily....1,000ft mark. I am usually at about 4k-4500 rpm. The surging is so strong...

    ToeCutter's Lane Selections

D, it really sucks getting your heart fired up that way. I had my own off road excursion today on the way home from work. I hit a patch of ice that took up the width of the road, and extended for about 50ft in length.....on a blind downhill curve. Before I knew it, I looked like your avatar...

    11418 Miles later

I was going to keep the tire brand as Brand-X for sake of superfluous argument, but one of my co-workers is a ST rider. With near 80,000 on his, and the whole gammit of tires he has tried over the years, he decided that what he liked best, was what I have as OEM...

    Tire size

I went with the Metzeler's. I found out that the letter "C", & "G", are specific to certain bikes. I suppose this is for the bike maker to charge a little more. I may be wrong though. I put the 190/50 on the back. 300 miles later, and no complaints. As a matter of fact, where I ride...

    11418 Miles later

Finally put new tires on......What a difference. I commute the 5 Fwy into LA. Any one who drives the Dodger Stadium area knows they have been doing a lot of work grinding up the lanes. They haven't been grinding the whole lane though. They do 1/2, or only a 1/4 of the lane at a time, for...

Solo FJR on Frazier Mtn Road to Cuddy Valley RD

That was me. You were wearing a Day-Glo suit, correct? I ride that road everyday to work. And to let you know, hairy is when your riding at 2 in the morning, you can't tell the difference between ice, sand & dry road...........and then a deer runs in front of you, or an owl swoops down by...

    Tire size

2 Questions. For the Metzeler Roadtech, the service manual says to use the Z6C (rear), & Z6G (front). The question being the "C" & "G" after the Z6, what do they mean? After doing some WWW searching, I noticed that most tire places do not have these letters afterwards on their Z6's, and the...
