Vibration starting at 4500rpm and gets worse ('05 FJR1300)

Sorry about the video quality - it doesn't really represent the sound very well. I like the chain idea as it does sound like metal on metal and sometimes it hits several time rather than once like in the video (hence the "crackle" comment). I was thinking exhaust because it also sounds kind of...

Vibration starting at 4500rpm and gets worse ('05 FJR1300)

Okay here's a video. It's sounding more to me like exhaust now that I listen closely. Not the "ticker" issue I've read about as I've now heard what that sounds like. Here's the vid: https://www.flickr.com/photos/106496343@N02/18279472215 I guess you can't link from in here. It's https://...

Vibration starting at 4500rpm and gets worse ('05 FJR1300)

It's fresh gas and in a critterless environment. I get the arguments about this being normal for this type of engine, but then it would have been doing it from day one, not just suddenly start. In any case... I changed the plugs and when I started her up and revved it, there didn't seem to be...

Vibration starting at 4500rpm and gets worse ('05 FJR1300)

Nothing changed. The bike sits a lot but I did a plug and oil change at 11K miles right after I bought it. I'll start with the plugs, as suggested, and also go through and check the engine mounts. To the question about range, it starts at 4500rpms and then gets worse the higher it goes...

Vibration starting at 4500rpm and gets worse ('05 FJR1300)

Thanks, all. I don't think it's the tires since they're pretty new and the vibration happens in all gears, so at various speeds. When in neutral and I rev it up, it does vibrate, and there's some sputtering as well. So plugs sound like a possibility. I've heard the throttle sync solution...

Vibration starting at 4500rpm and gets worse ('05 FJR1300)

Hi all, Sorry - I'm sure this has been covered but a cursory search didn't reveal much. I've got about 13K miles on my '05 1300 and it just started this behavior where there is a vibration that starts at about 4500rpms and then gets worse the higher the rpms. This happens in all gears, so...

    Radar jammer install question

Hi all, I've been reading the posts on here about installing electrical gizmos and have gathered that I can tap into the wire going to the taillight to power my radar detector. I like this idea because I'll be mounting the CPU under the seat and grabbing that wire would be easier than the one...

    Leaking final drive

I have an '05. Changed final drive oil this weekend and noticed my rear rim had small "splatters" on it after a ride and I felt some oil under the plug. Read some posts on it and looks like overfilling or using the wrong type of oil can cause a leak. I'm pretty sure I didn't overfill - the...

    What flavor is my '05?

Hi all, Just bought an '05 and I'm wondering to how tell which version I have. The shop manual has AS/S/SC/AS© as variants. I also see that there is a 2005.5 version. Is there an easy way to tell which one I have? Sorry if this is a dumb question but be nice. Thanks!

    Question on seats

Interesting. Thanks for the quick replies. I'll need to think on this some more. If I had the money I'd just get a Russell for the long trips and a Corbin for canyon carving.

    Question on seats

Okay I've been on the forum for 15 minutes and I've already spent $150 ($20 for cruise control? Sweet! What, they have a blue insert for the Givi V46? Sold!). Let me ask my question before I max out my card... I want to get a more comfortable seat, mostly for my gf. I heard Russell is the...

    Go Cruise Throttle Control

So glad I saw this post - thanks. $20 is a whole lot better than $200. On the slipping, looks like you can get a silicon ring for $2 on the site. I imagine that's what it's for.
