Opinions on stock seat (Gen II)

I didn't see anyone answer your question about what kind of pain to expect...I'm 5'10" 190lbs and have done several 600 plus days on the stock seat. I get sore in the crease between my butt and thigh. I rode my friends triumph tiger for hundreds of miles on the TAT. The tiger had a sargent...

    Thinking about a KLR 650...

I've got a '93 KLR650. It's great for trail rides. I keep up with everyone on and off road. It's not comfortable like the FJR but that is not what it's made for. Dollar for Dollar this is the best value out there. By the way, I've seen a few post with the recommendation to test ride before...

    Fuel Economy

Back in 06 when I was looking my wife liked the ST for it's cushy pillion seat but I thought it was too close to Gold wing. Since she only rides 1 or 2 times a year and I ride almost every day I went with the FJR. There are a lot of comparisons on the web. Just about every one says the ST is...

    Cold feet

This past summer I had a lot of fun in Colorado. There were only of few sweet corners where I hit the bikes limits, besides that the bike was capable of more than I could give it.

    Cold feet

I had an FZ6 before my 06 FJR. My wife wouldn't ride with me on the FZ6 so we went out together and she said she was comfortable on the FJR. She has plenty of room on the back and the addition of a backrest made it even better. 99% of the time I'm riding alone. The FJR has never let me down...

    Wake Up Call

sorry to hear about the crash and your buddy's vintage bike...I want to address your comment about armor. From what I read on this forum and the pics I see most everyone here gears up. I do too, but I must admit I have inner battles sometimes when my friends who don't wear protective clothing...

    dropped it today

What a great day today in St. Louis. I was riding everywhere, taking the long way every chance I could but as I pulled back into the garage I hit an extension cord left on the floor and since I was going so slow the bike stopped dead, tipped to the right and as I put my foot down I was right...

06 FJR insurance dropped like a rock!!

I don't understand...if I crash and I'm at fault my insurance will fix my bike, right? If someone else hits me and leaves or is uninsured it falls back on me doesn't my insurance still pay?

    Question about bike comm systems

I have starcom mounted under my seat. It works great communicating with passenger, listening to mp3 player and I have it ready to work bike to bike. I haven't used bike to bike at hwy speed yet but it works in the garage. The one prob I am having is the cell phone. The phone set on auto...

    Heated Grips Summary

I just intalled the dual star heated grips this AM. The clutch grip is a lot hotter than the throttle grip. Has anyone experienced this? I installed with the toggle high/low/off. Also, I used radiator hose stretch repair tape to insulate the clutch side between the alum bar and heat element...

Talking a friend out of Harley

I like the look of the v-rod. This may give you chance to ride a different bike from time to time if you and your friend allow others to ride your bike. Once you get your mind set on a certain bike it's hard to change your mind or even look at bad press about it.

Thinking about taking my teenage son cross-country

Poll ER Workers...I've been a paramedic since '92 and have seen my share of bad stuff, that's why I would do this trip. I've seen freak accidents and rare disease take parents and children. If you manage your risks and don't live in fear of what may happen, your less likely to have regrets...

Thinking about taking my teenage son cross-country

My son is 9 y/o and I realized the other day that half of our time in the same house is over. Assuming he moves out at 18. I ride with him and we're planning overnight mc camping trips for this summer. I guess we could stay home and play video games together but that's not going to happen...

LA Times Article - "Bikers" playing fast & loose

Fines of a few hundred dollars make a point and are a deterrent. A fine as high as $5,000 is life altering for most of us. A normally good citizen would be inclined to run if faced with a fine that high and take their chances of a get away. In most of the rural areas where speed limits are...

    Center Stand

Standing on the left side of the bike, left hand on left grip, right hand on grab handle on rear of seat, place left ball of foot on center stand knob and push down into the ground. Instead of trying to lift the bike onto the stand push the stand under the bike. I start with the side stand...
