Thanks for the input. Good to see positive comments on Mountain to Sound, and on the KLR. Shiny, I did do quite a bit of googling for rentals in Montana. All I got back was Harleys. It was the ranch that told me about the KLR place.

peripheral to the topic If you use the H.A.R.D. from Legal Speeding, it may not work with the SmartCord. When I got my H.A.R.D. three years ago (flak shield engaged), it didn't work. I called Legal Speeding who told me that was frequently the case. I tried another connector & it worked fine...

I want to try rebuilding the foam. My attempt to do this on my V-Strom was, shall we say, less than optimal, so I'm not willing to tear into my existing seat. I've not given up yet, so PM me if you have a stock seat you want to sell.

Have you tried on Daytona's? They're very expensive, but I would have bought them anyway except that they were too wide.

I have the snakeskin. My install is ugly. I covered a lot more tank than I needed to. Should have have gone for the Bonneville look, but even then I would have had a squared edge rather than a finished edge like the old Triumph Bonneville. Ugly is OK if it works and these pads work for me...

My '05 just started ticking on a 2,000 mile trip last week. Given Deagle's experience, I want to be "armed" when I talk to the dealer and (hopefully not) Cypress. Deagle mentioned a tech article in Cycle World. Can anyone tell me which issue it was in? Thanks

FWIW, $0.85 each at my local dealer. No S&H. Of couse they're not in stock, so I have to go back to get them. Unrelated, shop manual was $58. Cheaper than Yamaha's web site at $60 + $10 S&H.

I installed the ThermoTec this weekend. I replaced the plastic over the adhesive with reinforced foil from duct wrap. I took it out for an hour with the fuel level starting at 3 bars, but the temperature was only about 80, so not much of a test. Hot legs, lukewarm tank. Still, a 25% full...
