My "lightest and fastest of all" 03 wheelies with no problems in First and second gear. I did a 3rd gear, 80mph wheelie (small one, maybe 5-6" off the ground) once without intending as I was passing a line of cars. However, I revved it hard, dropped it down and dumped the clutch with authority.

Just put her in 2nd, rev to about 6K while crusing, let off the gas and get back on rapidly. Don't forget to cover the rear brake in case it comes to far/fast. Stabbing the rear brake will bring it down fast.

I would not really suggest making a habit of doing this. First, it's darn squidly, second it's hell on your front end. Not to mention a really good reason to get hauled off for reckless opp.

The 06 can hoist the front in 1st gear. Just sit back on the saddle, accelerate quick to @4.5k rpm, close and snap open throttle, you got yourself a wheelie. My father nearly fell off his Ducati in laughter the first time he saw me do it. The bike is big for wheelies so setting it down gently can be difficult, you want to set her down or shift up before hitting the rev limiter. Otherwise its a creampuff, very stable once up.

Actually, you dont even have to close the throttle...I like messing with my regular riding group by taking off from red lights and getting the front end up. I just take off smooth and easy till it hits 5K, then whack open the throttle...makes the HD riders in our group feel somewhat lacking ;)

For years I did block long wheelies on my FXR Harley. I powered it up on the shift into 2nd gear. I used the throttle and the rear brake to control it. Eventually I got to where I could shift while in the air. One real scare changed everything. Now the front wheel stays on the ground. My '06 FJR will wheelie easily, but do yourself a favor, don't make it a habit. Two wheels isn't much, and with one on the ground you are asking for some road rash.
