I am debating removing the tank logo and the bag logo.

Thought it looked pretty good. Tank logo would be easy to remove, then I just got to figure out how to do the bag logo without photoshop!

Plus I couldn't find a pic of an 04 like this, there is another thread with an 05, but its that ugly blue color! :p

My '03 was stolen, wrecked, recovered, restored. When it came to emblems and decals, I told the painter, "Leave them all off." I think it looks great without the manufacturer advertising plastered all over it; only stamped in the engine covers. It sure makes a lot of people guess at what I'm riding, too. Good conversation starter, if you like that sort of thing. Quite a few guess BMW, for some reason. When I rode the CB1100XX, I stripped all the goofy decals and crap off that, too; truly a stealth fighter.

Removing the logo would leave an ugly inset. You might try coming up with a way to "cover" it. I know you can buy some carbon-fiber decal stuff at CycleGear, maybe they have some plain black. Or perhaps there is some paint that would adhere to the logo. RogDeb has cut some red reflective material to put over his which looks good on his RED bike.

You could drill the rivet out, remove the logo, fill the vacant holes with plain, black rivets.

It needs some flames. And that model you had with it in the recent picture.

I took off my tank decals with some dental floss before adding my custom badges.

You should leave it. While I wouldn't want to ride around on the Repsol Honda, I don't see anything wrong with a *little* branding. Besides, then you'll just get all the "Hey, Nice BMW" comments and frankly... that's an insult :D

Yamaha, w/ the tuning forks logo, was a HUGE reason for me purchasing the FJR. Being a Yamaha keyboardist dude, it gives a talking point of why the tuning forks are on the logo and their history. The Yamaha motto has always been "attention to detail" on their pianos, organs, motorcycles, drums, ... since 1890, blah, blah, blah. ... at the age of 12, sat down at a piano and started to play. Then stopped because the touch/action/sound of the piano was so outstanding compared to what I had been playing (Baldwin, Steinway). Looked down to see what kind of piano it was and read the in-laid brass lettering, "Yamaha". That was it for me. 1965, a Yamaha devotee.

Would you take a Ferarri insignia off if you owned a Ferarri? I think our FJR is a close comparison. IMHO

git-r-dan :beach:

I took most of that junk off of my Feej as well. I like that clean look.

Yes, I probably would. I am not big on decals and stickers, I usually do it to all my vehicles. I even did it to the lawn tractor.

Wow. Some of you peeps are weird.

- The normal one
Methinks you're right. I didn't bother removing anything and I still get "I like BMWs" or "Nice BMW". Just tell them it's a Japanese BMW or Yamaha. Not ashamed to ride a Yamaha or display Holeshot logo. Nobody looks at that **** anyways...

Besides, I like that tuning fork roundell. Why, I even have a couple of FJR hats

To each his own...

If I removed my Yami tuning forks the only thing I would consider putting back would be a pair of Playboy Bunnies. They would look good against fast blue. But I would be worried about their heads butting together during wash jobs.

:)

My '05 came in with a bit of fork lift damage, scratched fairing on the right side, a ding in the tank, and a ding on the right exhaust can. When the new parts came in, the tuning fork badges were shipped separate. I never put them on, and I like it better without. I have already removed the bag reflectors. I wouldn't mind losing the FJR sticker on the fairing, either, but I'll probably just leave them alone. They're not too obtrusive.

Guess I'm odd man out. I even added 05 Decals to my 06 because I thought the engine side cowls looked a little plain.

I like the badges.
