05 Sliders

Well I dropped my baby and no I didn't have sliders on her. :headbonk: Now in the process of having her re-painted and want to install sliders before I put her back together. Wild Hair shows 3 types on their website for the 05; GSG-Moto, Meissner and Metisse. Has anyone tried these? I would like to buy the one that offers the most protection. I think some have used the GSG-Moto, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I have the Motovation on my 03. They are well made and fit well.

I have the Metisse on my 07 and they have saved me a bunch of fiberglass and paint already. (You don't want to hear the whole story!!!)

Moto no cuts on my '05 and they look fine and appear to offer good protection should I drop her someday.

Motovation no cut sliders on my 05 here as well (I hope) to never find out if they work...

Some people have reported difficulty with installation, one side longer than the other, which side goes on first, what do you torque them to, etc...

I found no issues understanding the instructions that came with mine. YMMV

I have the R&G sliders and yes, you do need to cut a hole on each side. No problem and I can tell you they work...both of them!

Like Jim I have the R & G. Yes, I had to cut some holes, but that is where the scratches were from the tipover. I've not tested them yet, and hope not to. Best part is they are half the price, from bike Jonny. jr

Installed the Mokos in '05 shortly after purchase of bike. They work well. On both sides...

Don't let cutting holes in your plastic be your only deciding factor. I have the R&Gs from BikeJonny. Not cheap, but they work. In conjunction with FJRGoodies TOGs a lowside at 35-40 last January did not require replacement of any plastic. Chewed the slider to the bolt, scuffed up the Tog, tore off the mirror* and broke the screen along with scratching up the muffler can and the bags. The bags took the brunt of it. Oh, and the stator cover got ground down. Would have been through if not for the Bike Johnny TFT engine armor. I picked up the bike and rode home after the crash. Do a search for "pavement surfing" and you should find the pictures I posted here on the forum.

*The bike actually flipped over at the very end of it's slide and broke the other side mirror as well as both bar ends being torn off.

My story is similar to Eric's above -- R&G's from Bikejohnny work as stated and sacrificed themselves.

Meissners are illustrated here. At $210, they're pro'lly the most expensive of the bunch. They're made in Germany out of quality stainless steel and just the pad's ends are nylon with a s/s logo insert. The picture here does not show the aluminum brackets and bolts needed for installation on the RP04-RP11 bikes.

Moko Sliders were what was available, years ago, if you wanted a slider without cutting a hole in your fairing. Moto is the brand that replaced them.

Whether they were bought out or simply underpriced or whatever is unclear.
