My 06, I have the ECU connector out but do not see any pin number markings. Looking at the side with three white tabs to release the pins...not sure of the color or position of 23 wire and plug 25....searched the posts, please advise.....

Doh....please disregard, nitwit with bad eyes. Now I see the numbers...23 is all the way to left ....... yellow/orange ...............

You're not a nitwit I was just doing the same thing and was wondering myself.

trimmanton, thank you sir, how did it go with you? I just got back from a quick test run around the neighborhood and it is good over here. Just as all the others who went before, with the Barbarian, throttle rocker, spring release, grip puppies and slack out of cable my bike is now where I feel it should be. Nice progressive off idle throttle response.... much smoother than stock. Only trick I have not applied is Fred H pulley/shim mod which I now feel is not needed, atleast for me on my bike it's not needed....even a nitwit with bad eyes can get it done :yahoo:

I just got back from a short test drive and mine is very noticeable better.I also adjusted the throttle cable just a bit and that helped to.Very worthwhile for 30 minutes of time.I was thinking of a power commander but really don't think it's worth the expense after the improvement that I see now.PC111 for the 06 are $339 that's a little stiff.Anywho happy riding GAPS

I tried the Barbarian mod on my 06A and had trouble getting the wire out. I got the plug out, but I was not able to push the wire out of the #23 hole. I didn't want to force it or pull on the wire; I pushed from the botton with a paper clip but it would not budge. And yes, I pushed the white bar first in order to unlock the wires. Is there a trick to getting the wire out?

Mine was stuck a little bit but after working it for a few minutes it came right out.Just don't force it.

You might need a larger diameter wire to get under the wire connecter.

Hi: I am new to the forum but have an '06 FJR and I want to try this mod out. I've read the instructions for earlier models, but you guys are talking about a different pin number than earlier years. To make sure I have this right, the '06 version of the mod is to take the wire out of hole #23 and place into #25. Anything else or is it really this simple?

Thanks

And don't forget to push that little white retaining clip in.... or you will need to be good at reconnecting broken wires. I speak from experience. See thread on testimonials.

Done, the only thing I forgot to do was not drop my paperclip while pushing out the white pin. Fortunately, the pin didn't go flying and all came out and went in as planned. I did remember to re-locked the white retainer clip - also noted that it will only engage when the wire is far enough into the receptacle.

Good news - it does make a difference, the low end power is so much smoother than before and the response is instantaneous. People have described an FJR as pulling like a tractor, it pulls like a racehorse now. Had my doubts about how much difference it would make, but I know from my flying days that we always took off with the mixture full rich (except at higher altitude airports) for max power. Makes sense that this would work as well if they come from the factory set on the lean side.
