This same weight is shown for UK FJR's where the side cases are accessory options. So this weight does not include the side cases.

Side Case (including cloth zippered liner) = 13.45 lbs. (UPS scale)

Rubber coated steel mounting bracket = ~0.5 lb.

Two cases & brackets = 2 x (13.45 + 0.5) = 27.9 lbs.

Total '05 ABS dry weight = 553 + 27.9 = 580.9 lbs.

'06 ABS dry weight = 582 lbs.

'06 ABS has gained 1.1 lbs.

Huh?

Dry weights are notoriously inaccurate, so no reliable comparison can be made there. The only way to get an accurate assessment of the weight difference between the 06 FJR and previous generation is to take wet weight measurements on the same scale, one right after the other.
