That 100k rider group. Does anyone here have that ranking?

If so.......

*clubs self in face*

That is bonkers insane.

As in the Iron Butt Association's '100,000 miles in one year' award?
Yes.
Pretty sure nobody here has done that. Yet.

I would really like to, but it will have to wait until I am retired and have the $$$ to do it. Would love to be the first to do 200k in a year.

Anybody out there want to sponsor me for that? :D

You krazy F**ker Thats almost 4000 miles a week. That would be non stop riding for a year.

Giving yourself two down days per week, you'd need to average nearly 800 miles per day for the other 5 days in the week....every week of the year, rain, snow, ice, or shine.

Haha, epic.

Now THAT would be the life and a dream year. You'd literally hit every road in North America worth riding on several times. The continent would effectively be your playground.

I think that this would effectively KILL the passion of riding... For me anyway.

Oh... And Skooter is thinking 200K in MILES, Not Kilometers. :p

It would be very nice to have the time, dollars, and health to make such a run.

Not for me though.

I prefer Ara's and Spirit's approach.

I think John Ryan has stated that he wants to accomplish the 200,000 mile year also.
Yes, I have. Time isn't a problem for me, but it would take an enormous amount of money and planning. Thirty to forty rear tires, twenty to twenty-five fronts, sixty to seventy gallons of Mobil 1, sixty to seventy oil filters, seven or eight valve adjustment/checks, lube the rear shock linkage, and a couple of places around the country to work on the bike, with parts, supplies, tools, and well-qualified, helpful friends waiting. All of this, while averaging nearly 700 miles per day *every day*. The bike is bulletproof, but my rings were shot in less than 170K miles, and you may need to replace the alternator, especially with heated gear and auxiliary lights running a substantial amount of the time. There's not much room for mishaps, like a stone punching a hole in the radiator or oil pan, both of which have happened to me, before I shielded them.

No time off for Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, old age, sickness, injuries, et cetera. Family/wives/girlfriends would complain and/or abandon you. Most friends outside the IBA/FJR/BMW world may abandon you as well.

But, nobody said it would be easy.... ;^)
