I met Charlie Hoss at EOM 05. He had pulled in looking for witnesses to the end of his SS1000. I told myself that i would do one of those before I reached 70. Well time has a way of sliding by and as the saying goes"time is like a roll of toilet paper, the the closer the end the faster it goes". The bride has been on crutches, non-weight bearing since April 7th, and i have been driveing Miss Daisey ever since. She was going to a conference May 30,-June 1st and her fellow nursing instructors would have her under their wing. 3 Days for Jack :yahoo: :yahoo: What to do. I contact a young (43) friend and we are going to go to Maine and ride dual sports.Alas work had a problem and he had to cancel, now what. Wednesday called for showers but Thursday looked perfect for a ride. Where to go? Then light dawned on marblehead and I remembered the SS1000. Hit mapquest and Lynnfield MA to Westfield NY 525 miles rt 95 to rt90. Perfect all highway out and back the same route. Go down to the Police Station to ask if the night dispatcher will witness my start.Fire depatment is call so we will try the Police. Get lots of strange looks as I try to explain what I am doing. WHY they ask, but say they will leave a note for the night dispather.Go 3 miles away to be sure the gas station is open all night. In bed at 8PM just get to sleep and the phone rings  Off and on sleep, am awake at 12:30 get up get ready and am at the police station at 0130. The dispatcher had no note and it took a while to convince her to buzz me in. She had trouble understanding what I was doing but signed off and I left for the gas station.Start time 0150 and I am off. :) Western MA got foggy and coool, but for the most part I was able to keep a vechile in front of me, so they could hit any deer that appeared. When the sun came up the fog dissapeared except for the section where 90 runs along the canal in NY. A little traffic around Buffalo then on to Westfield. Gas up at the 7-11 and eat at the McDonalds next door. Dated and timed receipts for both. :) Head back about 11:10 everything going well. Stretching out the gas stops as we are on the home stretch. Approaching the rt90 /95 intersection there is a 3 mile backup. Get through that and arrive at the gas station 19:42, Police station at 20:OO Go through the explanation again, 1050.1 miles :yahoo: :yahoo: Get signed off go home get out of gear and make myself a scoth on the rocks. Will deal with the certification tomorow, maybe :p

It's guys just like you that make me want to stay on the bike forever.

I can only hope to ride a SS1K when I hit 69. Congrats!!

Something strangely . . . inspiring about your little report there, bb. I've got about 4 years left to meet that same deadline, but if I really want to do it, I guess I don't have to wait till the last minute, do I? Seriously, for the very first time, I'm beginning to turn this around in my head. Congratulations on your epic ride! :clapping:

Congrats!!! I am planning a similar ride, but starting in Albany,NY heading west on 90. I have to go to Ohio before I turn around but the route is almost identical.
